When I got to the abs all I could think of was Martin "DAYMN GINA!" First ColorMe done with my WACOM Tablet. I think it turned out pretty decent. I might upgrade it a little at some point with an actual back ground and a little more work on the pants.

I'm so prepared to be humbled by Hawk's color of this. Anyway. starting on brushes & texture. Needless to say I overdid it a bit.

A little over done, but it came out nicely. I like the hair. Nice job.

really I'm trying to figure out how the pro's get the oil paint look to theirs. I know it's in custom making the brushes. Believe it or not there's about 12 brushes on that piece. Anyone have a tutorial they could point me to?

The pros I know, and their tutorials don't use that many different brushes... I know one who turns out stellar work with just the round one eh? Another uses the textures brushes that came with ps and turns out amazing work. Anyway, these are looking great, I really like how you did yours Texas240. Textures are awesome. ~Finished Couldn't think of a better background. Also if you don't get it, I'm lighting it from behind and a weird un-identified blue source from the top right. Just for a challenge D: (Turned out...Strange? So-so) edit: finished version. work in progress

Hi guys, first time on these forums. Went for a bit of an old school comic style on this one.

rum: great clean style! Interesting color pallet. I llike it allot.
James: Neat, I haven't seen that style in a long time. I like how you 'cut' the rubylith shapes a little off registry. It has a nice feel.
Me: gah! I missed the stripes on the pants! How do you avoid problems like this when coloring?

for me, it's just being nitpicky while i'm coloring something. i take alot of time to do anything, because i keep checking everything over and over.

It really comes down to preference, and what you notice as the colorer (not sure if that's the proper word but...). If you didn't notice/want to color the stripes, then don't worry about it. The area where the stripes were on yours was so dark that you probably wouldn't be able to see them any way.

"Mostly prefrence" Unless its for a client eh?
With crisp lineart like hawks there isn't much guesswork with what's what, which is nice. I just make sure to get everything that's supposed to be in the picture colored when I do the flat color. Then I don't forget when I start shading.
