I'd like to recommend zZz. They're a Dutch band consisting of an organist and a drummer and they make a kind of  music that's... very hard to explain. "Sweaty, steamy, sleazy, sexy", according to the press.

Scott Matthews album 'Passing Stranger' -
He's a mix of Nick Drake /  Eliott Smith / Ryan Adams, solo male singer. If you don't know those artists then it probably isn't for you.

Video Nasties, particularly their track 'Video Nasties' -
Lo-fi catchy care-free pop songs, with beautiful lyrics. It becomes hard not to like their songs, esp. when they get to a chorus.

Jamie T, 'If You Got the Money' / 'Back In the Game' -
At first play it sounds like a white-boy rapper, but something draws you to play it all the way through and repeat it. Then you learn that he's not trying to be a rapper but just a smart guy from London streets. Watching the video for 'If you got the money' shows that he isn't someone trying to pretend he's the hard-man from the street, he just sings about what he knows.

586, 'We got Bored' / 'Saying My Name' -
At first their music soundly a bit too mad and electro experimentation, but then it all builds up great tracks, like the stupendesly silly and fun 'We Got Bored'. With a female - male duet of vocal talents it all adds up to some great tracks, and some of aquired taste.

Dirty Pretty Things Album 'Waterloo too Anywhere' -
I cannot stress how much I love this album, forget all the Carl n' Pete Libertines thing, 'cause Carl's created a strong new band. The tracks rock and bob along, that demands attention and will provoke some foot tapping at the least. The lyrics are increadible as well;
'They all followed me down here
To an alleys dirty end
Oh I had nothing to give them
I just thought they were my friends
Doesnt matter now' [Blood Thirsty B*stards]

The album starts with 'Deadwood' which sets you up for the rest of their great tracks, choosing notable ones becomes hard as there are certainly no fillers here. But 'Gin & Milk', 'blood thirsty bastards' and 'Bang bang you're dead' are always in my playlists (you have no idea how many times I re-write that short list). Listening to this makes you want to get out the torn jeans and old punk t-shirt and stick two cold fingers up at the world as you laugh away.

Muse is great.

I don't mean to be harsh (well maybe a smidge Tongue), but I loathe muse.

So another band/album I'm recommending is Probot. Self titled album. Its great. Basically, Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters for those who might be living under a rock and don't know) made a bunch of songs..well he just played the instruments. Then he sent the recordings to all the metal gods from when he was younger with a note that said "Send back with vocals"

Awesome stuff

I can only really think of one band I constanly listen to, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I recommend both their newer, more melodic songs, and their older, more bass-and-guitar-heavy songs.  To listen them requires a certain taste, and isn't really suggested for people who only listen to death metal and the like.   To continue on the pros rather than the minuscule amount of cons, their songs just seem to flow together within themselves; while also establishing themselves away from all their other songs.  Not to mention, their current and past band members are all wizards at the arts of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, as well as the other instruments.

I completely agree with most of what you said. They are a great band. Though, I think they hit their peak with Californication and since then have been a decline. From what I've heard from Stadium Arcadium, well it's a bunch of songs that sound the same.

But yes, I love them

Now, for ze topic: Music I recommend is Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Its a great modern day Swing band. Really cool style. Check it out Tongue

Just got the new Deftones CD, Saturday Night Wrist, this weekend. Its pretty good for the most part. There are a few songs that I don't like but for the most part I like it. Better than the previous album thats for sure, but not as good as White Pony. There is one particular song I really like and keep playing over and over again. Plus it was a super nerdy title. Its an instrumental. Pretty chill song. So even those that don't like Chino's singing and lyrics can enjoy it.

Deftones- U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,select,start

PS: if anyone knows what game that's from please tell me. I'm really curious

I think that's the famed "Konami Code" from Contra.

Edit: I just found something else you guys should totally check out (again, if you're into rap)

Wu-Tang Clan's "Wu-Tang forever" is a pretty solid album. I haven't found a track on it yet I don't really like.

Also, Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet" is awesome. Not as good as their "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," but it more than gets the job done.

Try The Dandy Warhols.

They're just all around good.

Rammstein: They have a huge range in their music. They can sound industrial, rock, soft and sweet, --- but ALWAYS unique. However...some of their lyrics will seem strange to a lot of you once they're translated

Daft Punk: Long ass and repetitive techno...but it's awesome, and for some songs, geeky. Though I do hate that Busta Rhymes used part of Technologic for his "Touch It" song.

Freezepop: More funky techno, geeky stuff. "I Am Not Your Gameboy", and "Robotron 2000" for example. <3

Weird Al: He's just awesome lol. I'm breaking the "rules" but, ah well.

The Essentials, with no need for explanation:
-Pink Floyd
-Megadeth
-Muse
-A Perfect Circle

...though, I LOATHE Nirvana and AC/DC

Iced Earth's album called The Dark Saga. It's really good.

And for all you Tolkien fans: Blind Guardian's album Nightfall in Middle Earth

Two people already took mine. Tool and Mastodon. But I finally thought of a band thayt no one really know about that still rule. Theyhre called Tubring. I know the names alittle weird. But if youre looking for a band that mixes philosophy, science and alot of energenic music these guys are for you.
