Do not upgrade now. Unless you have a dying need to have CS 2 just wait since CS 3 will be along by the end of the year at the very latest. Plus then it'll be Universal Binary among all it's other upgrades so if you buy a new machine you won't have to worry about running it through Rosetta.

something else you might wanna consider is your hardware specs.  CS2 requires a WHOLE lot more power from your machine than PS7 so unless you fit the bill, i'd hold off for a while... but i bet you already thought of that!  Roll Eyes

Necromancy FTW. I've been using photoshop7 for a while now and its sufficient enough for me not to upgrade. Although the more power required for CS could explain why it crashes on most people I've spoken to. Its down to preference really.

One of the major differences that i saw, and liked was that when you pick your filter, the window that pops up has almost all of the filters in it where in 7.0 if you wanted to see the different ones you had to cancel then reclick on the new one... it's expensive to upgrade, but in this case, it's worth it!  Grin

Something people don't realize, because I'm not sure how many people use it:

In CS1 and earlier, a layer grouping is not the same as it is in CS2. In CS1 and earlier, pressing Ctrl-G will create a clipping mask, whereas there is no hotkey for clipping mask in CS2.

Just something I noticed that kept tripping me up, as I had gotten used to CS1 hotkeys.

personally I would wait till January or so when the new version of the Adobe bundle 'CS3' is coming out.

If you are on a newer mac it will make a world of a difference not running rossetta and from what I've heard the reason ts taken so long to develop is that they've actually rewritten it from scratch, so it will probably run a lot nicer.

I actually changed clipping mask back to CTRL+G on my copy, the hotkeys are customisable.
