i'm glad i held the temptation.  Makes me sort of smerk.  the PS3 is supposed to be multicore, i hope they learn from Mircrosoft and get the cooling down right.

So I'm thinking about buying a 360, but only if I get the job I'm hoping to get, or ..... just a job.

But, I'm going to wait before I get one, even if I get a job.  Why? I wanna wait until after all the launch-day-console-problems run their ways out so when I do buy one, I can avoid most of the problems.

I'm debating on whether I should get one BEFORE they release Halo 3, or after.  By the time they release Halo 3, however, is when it'll go down in price, that is, if Halo 3 is released sometime next year.  I'm not in the mood to wait friggin' two or three years for Halo 3 to come out, so if it doesn't come out in a year, then I'll probly buy one before then.

It may just turn out that I buy an Xbox 360 when they're in the "pre-order phase" of Halo 3, and just pre-order it.

Sooo... to sum my little rant up, I plan to buy one, but in the near-future, not this month, or next month, but some time after.

If i got one now, i'd buy a liquid cooling system.  i'm thinking the heat is what is causing so many of the problems.  they are tring to fit a high performance PC into such a tiny enclosure.

I have decided not to buy one till at least febuary for 2 reasons.

1. i cant afford the permium pack.
2. i wanna see how this runs.

My current consoles are dieing so i cant play them a lot any more. I am a big Xbox Fan so i may just replace my xbox cuz its now like £80 for a new one.
If i do get a 360 i will get somekind service agreement so that if it goes worng in 5yrs i am covered.

Seeing it in the (proverbial) flesh i like it. i am still decideing on the controll pad but i think it could work. I am wondering why PDZ is ment to be so bad. Also i have played a demo of kameo and its awesome!

Much like Sega did with the Dreamcast? I have a Jap unit at my parents place that has the liquid cooling system they used before using air cooling.

I wouldn't say that the XB360 is what you would call a high perofmance PC though.  High clockspeed yes, but not *really* high performance from what I've heard.

I'm allowed to chip in my $0.02 just like anybody else. Liking that fact (or me) is not compulsory. Lucky you, hmmm?

The XB360 is actually quite groovy in some ways, atleast compared to the original XBox.  The only real problem is that the current SDK is a stripped down version of DX9c which doesn't expose a lot of the features Microsoft have embraced from the N64 and PS2.

Most of the rendering power is unreachable until the release of DX10 sometime next year, and really...this shows in the launch line-up at the moment.  The CPU is a dead loss, suffering from a lot of issues with branching, but luckily I don't think most studios will be worried about developing better gameplay or A.I. in the rush to cater for the masses.

Yes, I was banned. But now I'm back. Neat, eh?

Like i understood any of that...  seriously, laymanns terms unless you're in the programers forum.

Were there lots of technical terms in there? No Matter.

Okay. The 360 has quite a few nice features in the graphics hardware,  but at the moment, Microsoft hasn't exposed them to the programmer.  Those features won't be accessable until the next year sometime.

Despite the very cool rednering hardware, The Xenon Processor is a complete loss.  It has some major flaws in some of the instruction perform logic control, which are causing a lot of performance issues.  But that's okay....developers don't have to provide progressive gameplay or earth-shattering new techniques for A.I. as the masses just want the same games with better eye-candy.

Everything else is secondary, and the current lineup of xb360 game reflects that approach.  Well...they would do if they did more than just look like higher-res XBox games.

it connects the wotsit to the thingamajig.

You know somebody's being pathetic when they start picking on spelling, grammar and the likes to make thier argument though.

Alright....the processor is just very bad in terms of performance.  In future I may refrain from explaining the assertions that I make, in the hope that people just don't want to be confused with techno-babbble.

But in short...one of the things that is making it peform so badly is the part of the CPU that decided if it should execute the next instruction or jump past it.  Something to do with many of the modifications that IBM made on the G5 core for Microsoft I believe.

and you'll find that more people are receptive and not shy away to comment.  so thank you.
