Due to undernet non-stop netsplits, I'm forced to move #applegeeks back to aniverse.

server: irc.aniverse.com
channel /join #applegeeks

I can't say I'm having any better luck with aniverse than I was when we made the switch to undernet...but oh well...it'll work itself out eventually I guess.

irc.esper.net EsperNet, rarely have problems.

irc.sorcery.net Sorcery, stable, though they are in need of another server.(Main server left about a month ago.)

irc.freenode.net Freenode, stable, but when you get disconnected at your ISP it bitches forever before you can reconnect.

irc.jetirc.net - I've never noticed any real problems with netsplits or the like, plus doesnt have traffic issues.

irc.foreverchat.net - great group of guys running it, only time I've had a netsplit or something was when a machine was taken down for maintance, and the admins warned everyone before that happened (so it wasnt out of the blue).

I guess I'll send another one out here -- Whatnet (irc.whatnet.org)

There's a few problems every week or so, but they're short. The only downside to the network is that there isn't a normal NickServ/ChanServ -- Q and H instead. They're easy as pie to learn, but just a little weird at first. I got used to it.

Hey, Hellmark, thanks for the plug! Cheesy

Currently, Aniverse is down. Along with Megatokyo, and Reallife.

now, i havent talked to ukyo today, but i know he was trying to move stuff over to the new colo site, and thats probally the reason for the current downtime.

Sorry if this inconveances anyone, but servers go down, packets get missrouted, and life DOES go on.

GO out and get a tan, or something, you paisty white fanboy.

So, I'm trying to connect to irc.aniverse.com, since that's where #applegeeks is located, right?

Yet all I get is the "connection refused" error message:
-!- Irssi: Unable to connect server irc.aniverse.com port 6667
          [Connection refused]

Yes, I'm using irssi, and yes it's using the default IRC port. I'm fairly sure I'm giving the right command (/connect irc.aniverse.com), but I can't get in.

What gives?

Same result as before. I've no problem connecting to any channel on freenode (irc.freenode.net), but aniverse seems right out. Sadness! I assume the port is fine, and I'm currently on freenode right now talking to other folks, but aniverse is unreachable.

I also tried using Gaim, and it's rejected by aniverse as well. Unable to connect; connection rejected, etc. Not good.

Aniverse had pretty lousy admin too. Just go glining people without proper reason is just silly, isn't it? Spike sure likes doing his job. Roll Eyes
