The only thing I am upset about so far is Soundwave as a helicopter. A HELICOPTER!!! Why not have soundwave be ho I don't know... maybe.. SOUNDWAVE! They always have to srew with my favorite characters. I am excited to see Prime and shockwave. I would personally like to see the insecticons, Dinobots (specially Grimlock and Swoop), I think Hotrod would be kool, and most of all I would love to see how they would design Ultra Magnus!!!

yeah, soundwave as a helicopter has me scratching my head. why do that? just to keep with the vehicle theme they've got going?
i'm not too happy about michael bay directing it either. he's a hack. i'd go into it, but that would be too easy for comments to begin to stray from the topic. there's a good year before they start filming this though probably, so there's time for change.

I got no problems with Michael Bay, The Rock was good. The Island looks to be good as well. Soundwave as a helicopter well, that sure is a
what the?
but they seem to be keeping with the vehicles theme and if you read through that info on page 1, it says that the Decepticons can't fly unless they're on aircraft mode, which is probably the reason behind the change.
Megatron won't be a gun either, he's a tank. Most likely the purple tank Megatron from G2.

Big time car producers seem to be into the idea..
A little strange with the Autobots having been around since before mankind...

If I recall correctly that's exactly how the story went...
On a mission to find a new source of energy the Autobots are ambushed by the Decepticons on board the Ark, which crashes on Earth some four million years ago. This crash puts all on board into a comatosed state until a volcanic eruption reactivates the Ark, which then proceeds to repair and reformat both the Autobots and Decepticons into various Earth style transformation modes to disguise themselves. From there the war between the two groups is taken to present day Earth.
That was basically it in a nut shell if I'm remembering right.

I have been collecting the gen1 comics. And that is pretty much how it goes. The original cartoon showed just was you have described Battousai. The comic showed it in more detail.

I probably wouldn't even remember that little bit of the cartoon plot if it wasn't for the fact that I watched the first few episodes of the 1984 show on some old tapes I'd found back about four years ago.
Aside from that little stroll down memory lane I haven't seen or been into much of transformers since back in the late 80's.
I recall trying to sit through an episode of Energon here when it first came out, but couldn’t get past the whole minicons “gotta catch em all” pokemon concept.

You're misunderstanding me here, I know they've been around for a long long time.
I thought it was strange how car producers have been announced to have payed the project large interest when the Autobots have been around before those car companies were even thought of.

I'm incredibly apprehensive about this, DESPITE how awesome Michael Bay is. I mean, they've already raped my childhood with "Energon" and what not, so I'm not going to be too trusting of this until I see some real details...
Now, if they manage to not screw it up ala Uwe Boll, this will mark one of the best days of my life when it's released.

I see what your saying. The comics and the cartoons both take place in the early 80’s. It would be cool if they kept that time line in the movies but chances are, since they already changed Megatron and passably now Soundwave. It wont take place in the 80’s.

it's just personal preference, or lack thereof in this case. he's got a formula to how he directs movies. i can almost predict perfectly when he'll use certain shots and big, unnecessary explosions have gotten old to me. i take film making kind of seriously so it's his recycling of ideas for shots that i hate. it's all technical.
and about the avatar, i'm surprised no one has asked me to change it. red is scary.
