I'm totally new to photoshop and I can't figure out if theres a way to save your colors to a pallete.  If so can someone please help. Thanks

Yep, it's pretty simple.
Pick the colour you want to save.
Make sure you have the Colours window/menu open. Under Swatches, there are some empty spaces at the end of all the colours. The Fill tool icon should come up over the empty spaces. Click to drop your colour into a swatch, name it, and use whenever you like.
