Yay! So I got my 17" PB and it's pretty cool so far, however I have had one problem.
For some reason, whenever I put in a cd it gets ejected three seconds later.
This didn't happen when I first recieved it (about 5 hours ago). In fact, I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 and looked at Clerks in widescreen before I had to go to work. So I put it to sleep, closed the lid, and came back to find iWork on my doorstep. When I opened up the PB and returned it from it's sleep, and I slid the iWork cd in, it gave me this weird noise and the ejected the cd. So I thought, "Hey, maybe the cd is defective." So I flip over the cd and check the back, and it is warped slightly.
Then I try Unreal Tournament again, just to check, but I get the same result. Finally I tried an audio cd to only get the same result again.

....Help please?

Wow, that sucks.

Take a brand new, never used blank CD, and place it in the drive. If the same problem occurs, and the CD is damaged, take it to an Apple retailer immediately - or email AppleCare. It'll be under warranty, and you should receive a new optical drive for free. Also, ask them to replace the damaged disks.

Did you shut the PBook down and restart it?  You should try a restart before calling Applecare.

Yeah, I tried restarting it, and restarting finder, and now someone is suggesting I restart the PRAM.
If all of these methods fail I guess I'm just going to have to e-mail Tech support.
What a suckie way to start with a new computer, eh?

maybe your preferences for what to do with media got screwed up somehow and it's just ejecting. Go to System Preferences> CDs & DVDs, and see what preferences are set for inserting DVDs/CDs.
