I've been trying to tween a shape I made in photoshop into another shape that I made in photoshop, but it doesn't work. I've tried tweening a circle made in flash to a square made in flash, just to see if it works at all, and it does, but when I import something into the library and use that symbol, it doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Are all the symbols vectorized? I'm not totally clear on what you mean, so it's harder to help ... chances are, if it was imported from Photoshop, that it's a bitmap and not vectorized. I think that ought to account for your problem?

If that's what the problem really is, then there's an option somewhere in one of the menus (I want to say it's modify) called "trace bitmap". It traces your bitmap into vectors ... this can work, but if the image is complex, then it will be broken down and changed in appearance. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Shape tweens are veeery tricky to get to work properly. What you sually have to do is add keyframes in between the start and end frames, and you sort of guide it with those... say, from a square to a circle, if they're the same size (width and height, I mean) you probably add a keyframe in the middle with a rounded square.
Hope this helps. There have been a lot of times when I've got frustrated with shape tweens, believe me...

I seem to remember that shape tweens are used for objects that aren't symbols, and motion tween for objects that are symbols in your library.

Such as the example you make of a circle into a square is a shape tween. If it is in your library, doesn't flash consider that a symbol? I believe you can only motion tween symbols.
