H'kay, I have a U.S Navy Seals SOCOM USB headset and an Xbox.  My question is this, If i buy the Phantasy Star Online USB Adapter for Xbox, will it work with my headset as a Live! Communicator?  The reason I ask is becasue it works as a two way communicator on my Mac (Shows up as a Logitec I/O).

Nope.

The USB adaptor uses a seperate controller port whereas the XBL comunicator uses the same port as your controller.

Regardless of what the  site says, it is just a  standard  usb port  connected to a propietary  xbox connection.

More then that, every device needs different drivers. Evern if you made a connectoer to hook to your controller (which had been done - check xbox-scene for details) The xbox still doesn't natively have drivers.  Theoretically, you could use a modded box, but that would prevent live. So...

Short answer, it isn't worth it.

if there is a built-in driver for a simple mic and speaker to drive the XBL comm, i wonder if the same driver could be applied to the Logitec headset...   At least that's what OS X Says.  I wonder if there is a CD that you have to install to get the XBL Headst to work?

I went ahead and ordered the PSO USB Thinggy and will report more once i get it.

The headset doesn't need drivers installed. It is there from the get go.  I would lay money down that it won't work on a stock xbox. Althought having a uSB head set for my comp wouldb't be bad... how much did that headset run you?

well, if you include what came with it, 70 bucks.  SOCOM for PS2 came in a duel pack, you got the game, and the headset.  I dont play the PS2 too much anymore (Exceptions: DOA Beach Volly Ball and Summer Heat Vollyball), so i dont use the headset.  It came to me one day thast maybe if i plug it into my computer to see if i could get a headphone and a mic.  I did, and so it was.  I use it mostly for dictation and Voice Recognition, but now i might just use it as a XBL Headset alternative...  I hope it works.  You wanna put 7.33 on it?

lol
When you say DOA beach volleyball, do you mean the xbox game from tecmo? Cuz that is xbox exclusive Wink

yea- i'll bet 7.33 on it Smiley assuming that we don't get modded for the bet :|
If any moda take issue.. bets are off, but I could use a free lunch :!:

of course, there does have to be proof of some sort now. Maybe a picture with you headset plugged into the xbox, and the xbox shoing that you have a headset plugged in.

Dude, didn't you get one of those flimsy Xbox live headsets when you bought the live subscription?

Actually, i have a two month free subscription to xbl when i got Halo2.  Just testing the water to see if it is truely that hardcore of an experiance.  So far, i only got a chance to d/l software.  You see there is not a tv where my internet is and i had to set the whole thing up on my laptop computer witha tv capture card.  well, there is a 1 second delay from live feed and it doesn't make me a very good player.

I had a similar problem, i just went out and bought a really long (10m) crossover cable to hook my xbox to my computer. It's a bit annoying that people have to step over it when I'm using Live but I just unplug it and coil it up when i'm done.

I would need at least 100 ft.  one side of the house to another.

100 cable should run you about $15. You can also by a coupler and a pair of 50 footers. Look in smaller, local computer shops. If you go to bestbuy or someplace, they will want an arm and a leg.
Don't go the wireless route. I knew wireless would be laggy... but my god...
