Last night the living room circuit went out on me and I had to push a button on one of the wall outlets to get it going again. It does this from time to time when I go to the bathroom and turn the light on in there.

Well after that happened my computer has a little problem. If it gets bumped or jostled or moved it will go into standby. I have to use a pencil to push the metal thing in the hole that the montior hooks into to get it to come back up. Pushing the power button doesn't seem to do it when it goes into standby like that.

Does anyone know what the heck happened?

Sounds like it did something to your power supply, might need to get a new one, usually pretty cheap, <60 dollars usually.  The suped up ones range over 100 dollars and the standard desktop ones are in the 20-50 range...
