DC sat down and put a time traveling bulet into one of their most storylines. Sorry but thats just a dumb idea.

For the record Marvel's writers aren't much better if at all.

personally, i like the idea of the time travelling bullet.  the execution still has yet to prove itself to me though (so far Final Crisis has me confused).

so far, it looks like Barry Allen is back, the New Gods are dead, Darseid and all of Apokolips is now human and the Green Lanterns have gone nuts.  just another day at the office?

I'll give them that the idea could have been interesting. But it was just badly executed which is pretty much how everything in the Final Crisis has been up to now. They're jumping around too much while trying to cover too many angles.

I lost all i nterest in it when Jimmy Olsen was put up for membership in the Justice League. No. Just no.

i'll give you that.  unlike Inifinite Crisis, i had no idea about Final Crisis.  it really wasn't very well hyped and it doesn't help much that it doesn't interconnect with the regular titles.  Personally, I blame the multiple 52 spinoffs for confusing the matter of the DCU.

That was one of the good things about the last crisis, no more multiverse. I admit the idea of alternate universes is cool but DC has proven time and time again they can't handle it. It's a crutch that they leaned on way too much. But then they brought the freakign thing back and here we are again. The only good thing about its' rebirth was the launch of Booster Gold's series.

One of DC's major problem sis simply this. Timing. They run their comics in a way where titles can have the same characters dealing with different situations in the past or future. That's really confusing.

The first few issues of Atomic Robo published by Red 5 comics have been pretty good so far and what's kin dof cool is it started out as a webcomic if that counts as indy. A mob of nazis trying to bring a robot down by tackloing him while eh's lost in their base is worth a look and a giggle.

This is a little old, but I just found out the creator of Atomic Robo lives really close to me.  Who knew?

DC should try taking a page from Marvel and make their own sort of 'Ultimate' universe, as a place to try out new writers and artists, and as a place for people to take refuge when they do something amazing stupid like killing off the goddamn batman. (I will bet my girlfriend that he comes backto life within a year.)

I pretty much gave up reading Marvel after Civil war and stuck to the ultimate comics because they never tried to do anything as iditiotic on that sort of scale, hell, they even managed to make the clone saga good. And now I'm starting to think DC have no idea what they're doing anymore either, always having to top off the last big stunt with another even bigger stunt.

I would like to see a return to things as they were before. Well, at some point where things were 'normal' to a degree, no more of this 're-structuring the universe every year because eventually people will have to like it'.

but isn't the ultimatum story line doing the same thing?

I enjoy Ultimate SPider-Man but I really don't want to go back to the beginning of comics every so many years just to make it easier for writers. Who really wants to keep reading the same or similar ideas over and over again?

DC needs to return to the tone of their earlier comics without a doubt though, something that Ultimate Spider-Man has managed to do most of the time very well.

It's depressing to read their work most of the time now. It's always very serious and there's just no hope.

One thing I have to say, is, why the flying furry fuck is Rob Liefeld still being paid to make comics?

To this I say: 'Who the fuck is congrilla?'

where's martian manhunter? Plastic man? the flash!?

in short... what the hell!?

Hooray for Hal Jordan, though. Last time I saw Hal Jordan he was a giant hooded cosmic entity thingie. (which shows how much attention i've been paying since they decided it would be fun to kill their best-selling characters)

What are you talking about?  I would say Final Crisis but isn't Batwoman part of the Anti-Life camp?
The actual Justice League is Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Black Canary, Red Arrow, John Stewart the Green Lantern, Firestorm, Hawkgirl, Black Lightning, Vixen and Zatanna.

The new JLA arc that just started looks promising though.  Dwayne McDuffie is writing it and bringing over the old Milestone Comics characters to the mainstream DCU!  The Blood Syndicate has made their appearance!

Sonuvabiscuitfucker! (Not you)

That's just not right! Kids are going to grow up expecting superheroes to die the second it looks like the going's getting tough, instead of knowing that no matter how bad the situation, the good guys will always manage to pull through. What sort of cynical message is that sending to kids? 'Don't get too attatched kids, he'll be dead soon!'

i think comics started moving away from the "kid" demographic once powergirl's boobs began to rival the size of her own head.

to be a little more accurate, comics haven't been for kids since the silver age.  a time of heroin addictions (Speedy I), underage relations (Deathstroke x Terra I) and yes, Power Girl's boobs coming to full force.
