X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Ok, so for those who haven't seen the preview shown at Comicon:
http://io9.com/5029785/watch-the-wolverine-trailer-plus-a-sneak-peek-at-bruckheimers-eleventh-hour
For those who HAVE:
Holy CRAP. I'm a little worried, after my initial screaming and fangirl excitement. They're putting a LOT of characters in there. Emma Frost was shown briefly, Deadpool, Blob, Silver Fox, GAMBIT. Looks really intense (and Sabertooth of course), but I've got my concerns. Creed isn't as mangy as he should be, but that's a minor concern. Otherwise, I'm hopeful. How's everyone else feeling?

I saw a midnight showing of it thursday night and was pretty pleased overall with what I witnessed. I know most folks will probably dislike some of the changes made to certain characters and that will put them off of it but I enjoyed it. Hugh Jackman is a great Wolverine, the Sabertooth in this was pretty much exactly the way I've always imagined him, and Gambit was fun.
The only thing I really missed was Alpha Flight.

I saw it a little while ago... and although I told myself to just suspend my knowledge of the 'verse and go with it, I can't. That they even advertised "EMMA FROST!" in the commercials irritates me, as does Deadpool's character. But barring the stupid fangirl stuff, it was certainly entertaining enough. It had its moments, certainly, and wasn't nearly as bad as X-3. I dunno, wasn't overly pleased, but not totally disappointed. I'm sort of in the middle.

Yea, I feel exactly the same way. I liked Deadpool in the beginning (even though he didn't have the fucked up face and the mask to cover it. But at the end..it just wasn't Deadpool.
Though I should say, that last fight was badass

I found myself entertained during the film. Then about fifteen minutes later my brain went 'now hold on just one second there!'
Why did this movie need storm and cyclops and emma frost and gambit and quicksilver? And whose bright idea was it say 'hey, this deadpool guy, the fans always seem to adore him for being a loveable wisecrackin merc with a mouth, why don't we totally fuck that image up for them?'
Why yes, that is fanwank. But it's justified fanwank.

I feel like they added those characters (and subsequently fucked them up) just to add 'fan service' to the movie. And it failed, IMO. I totally agree with you about the Deadpool stuff, though. It doesn't make sense.

I thought Gambit was handled pretty well, that said they really messed up Emma Frost's character history. All you can do is accept Marvel is merging 616, ultimate, and new ides into their movie universe.
Deadpool was fine until he became Weapon XI, he was cool and entertaining after that but not Deadpool.
Oh and does Storm's cameo take place during Weapon X's raid in Africa? I saw her in the trailer but I just didn't notice her during the movie. Guess I was focused on something else.

I thought the movie was okay. I was annoyed by how drawn out Wolverines screams were several times in the movie. The dialogue was pretty cheesy in my opinion. :/
It was better than X-Men 3 at least.
I have a question! Wolverine didn't have bone claws in the comics right? His only power was regeneration?

Depends on which of his fifty original origins you want to go with. But yeah he did have bone claws in many of them as well as regeneration.

The official story for a long time was that he could just heal and had heightened senses, and that weapon X gave him the claws and the skeleton. Then in the nineties, at the end of the Fatal Attractions storyline, Magneto ripped the adamantium off'f wolverine, nearly killing him.
An issue or two later, wolverine is training in the danger room, trying to prove he can still be useful, and then 'snikt', and out they come. Everybody was surprised about it, too.
They followed it up with the 'Origins' Storyline a few years later, on which the opening of the movie is loosly based. You should try finding it at a liobrary or something cause it's a very good story...
COMFIRMED! A deadpool movie is in the making.-

Ii just found out that there are in fact at least two different endings to the movie if you stay after the credits end, apparently which one get splayed depends on which region you happen to be watching the film in. There's the one with Wolverine in Japan which I saw, the deadpool ending, and another one if the rumors are true. Just thought that was interesting.

Haven't seen the movie, have a lot of friends who both have seen it and don't mind talking about it at great length. I hear critics didn't like it, which, in my mind, meant it has to be good (never listen to critics). Though I heard about what happened to Deadpool. Talking is like his greatest super power, the character's usually hilarious. He was great in Hulk vs. Wolverine.

Never read any Wolverine comics (except The Death of Wolverine, i think it was called that... where you meet his other brother or something and he's like really old)
the CGI was average, but understandable they would have had to spend a whole lot to get Wolverine's regeneration looking fucking awesome!
On Deadpool. You have to give a certain amount of Latitude to making the character fit with the universe already created.
Also tumours everywhere is pretty uncool to look at...
Iono I forgive them for everything cause they cast Ryan Reynolds!
