It was faithful to the book, but at the same time they took some of the most dramatic scenes (in a metaphorical sense) and made them into comedic relief. I did not like that at all. Don't get me wrong though, if you hadn't read the book, it's an amazing movie. But if you did read the book, it's still pretty good. The fighting was awesome and the soundtrack was cool too (All Along The Watchtower!). Oberall, it was a fun movie, though some parts left me disappointed

So I finally saw it.

I have to say, I'm not impressed. Nor disappointed though, don't get me wrong. I just felt almost... annoyed, as if I was just reading the book again. Much as I love the book, and all to it, it just felt... different. Like they could have gotten creative. I respect and understand that they didn't want to fuck up the movie, but they took no risks. Even the ending felt blah. And it annoyed me how different the ending really was, given that much of Civil War in Marvel draws from it, and so by changing the ending, they change the point, IMO at least.

But I won't be picky. I thought the characters were well-done, and all did just what you expected them to. I got rather PO'd at guys in the audience who kept going "OH MAN, I CAN SEE HIS PENIS" in reference to Doc Manhattan, but that's the audience.

Some scenes, like Dan naked in front of the suit, I was glad were kept because of their vitality to the story (feeling 'naked' without the costume, needing it). Overall, I thought it was fine. No real complaints, aside from what's listed. Glad I saw it though, and I'll probably end up buying it. xD

What i loved was that fact that Dan needed to be in costume to get it up.

thought it really highlighted that even the most sane of all the watchmen left still had problems.

I'm about halfway through the novel, I'll admit, it's taken me a bit to get into it, but after reading about halfway through and watching the trailers again... I'm in awe and now craving to read it.

Movie comes out next week, I should have the book finished before then...

just wish I would've got to see it in theatre =\

If you watch the movie more as a companion to the graphic novel and as a single thread of the overall story (the main storyline obviously)

Haven't read the novel yet myself, but all my friends have told me that you have to look at the movie like that.

I dunno... it's a good thing you're reading it, Orcish, but I definitely recommend the read before the movie. My only issue with the movie was that it was identical to the novel save for one vital detail, so it just felt like reading the novel again. Seeing it in theaters was nice, but personally I think you might get more out of it by watching it in your home.

Interesting cause I was told that the movie changed a bunch of things around. Unless you mean specifically something that was swapped around....

I started watching some of the movie (got halfway through before I was drug into a raid) and while it's not exact, it's very very close, if anything's different it's just a few minor details, nothing that drastically changes the story.

The scene when Dreiberg breaks a guy's arm, the bone breaks the skin, blood coming out like a fire hose... wow ...

I think I'm the only comic books fan on the planet who doesn't think Watchmen is the greatest thing on the face of the planet.

Either that, or I just haven't met anybody that thinks that yet.

It's a decent read, and the movie by definition is decent because of that, but it's just not.....idk, good?

My opinion though, only.  I swear! >_> <_<

My best friend is a true comic nerd, and he thinks Watchmen is over-rated, so you're not the only one.

I still gotta read it, my problem is I tend to steer away from really popular things. (bad personality trait i know) But I really like the what if possibilities, what if the superhero's overstayed their welcome etc.

Finished watching the movie ... still need to finish the book ...

The ending did take me by surprise however, I didn't think Ozymandias would be the mastermind behind the "masked-killer" so it was a rather interesting plot twist, and very well done.
