Aspiring Filmmaker!

My names jojje, im from sweden and im 22 years old.  I'm currently on my first term at the International Academy of Film and Television. I initially took journalism in college but got frustrated with sitting in class doing excercises after excercises. I wanted to create something tangible and substantial.  One Google search led me to IAFT and the rest is history. Now im in the process of editing my own film.  A film that I wrote, I directed, and produced.  I'd like to meet people in this forum who share the same passion for filmmaking as me. It would be great to share ideas and discuss about anything and everything. Everything about ASPIRING FILMMAKERS

Its always been my dream to do this but I don't know where to start. I have no idea where to begin! I guess the first goal is getting money to get a nice video recorder...

How did you  get started? What did you buy? And what movie are you working on?

same with me... except i am in a course that will help me with my film making. I am in the process of writing a few scripts with a friend, some we intend to make and some we are writing to give to bigger directors etc.

I really wanted to get into film when I was young - in a writer/director role. I had plans on attending the New York Film Academy in high school, but for whatever reason I didn't. I did have a couple of AV classes in the school I did attend, though, wherein we were given the option of grouping together and making a short film. I came up with a concept and tried to get things sorted but the idea didn't pan out.

Essentially, it was going to be a "mocumentary" on modern piracy (in regards to music and film). Basically, I was going to paint my old panel truck up black with a pirate flag, and a group of us were going to hijack media delivery trucks.

Lack of willing participants and potential legal repercussions killed it in the end, I suppose.
