What do you think? I'm talking general, meaning a few hundred songs, videos, pictures, anything really, considering the large screen. Particularly, it'd be great from people with one, but speculation is welcome. $299 seems like a reasonable price as long as 8GB is enough, but $399 is a bit edgy, I think.

Invincibility is absolute. Security is relative.

Put it this way - storage isn't the selling point of the iPod touch. You get it if you want the big screen and interface. If that doesn't sway you, then just go with a classic.

I agree with Ziz. I personally wouldn't get the iPod touch because while a big and touch screen is cool, I need the storage.

It should be ok, but not if you want to store large ammounts of video.

I've got over 3200 songs and about 3.5hrs of video on my Zen:M, and it takes up just under 20Gigs.

Wouldn't be much effort to swap out new video files every new trip though, plus I don't listen to a whole lot of those 3200 songs very often.

Then there's the issue with finding songs... at least in coverflow.  8 gigs can be a lot of covers to browse through.

I've found 8GB to be enough for my iPhone, and that's including all the apps I have installed (I symlinked /Applications to /var/root/apps).

My Library stands only around 610 songs so its about 3.8 gigs.  Fits nicely on my 8 gig touch.  I also have Hot Fuzz on there for those , I need a laugh moments.

I own the 8gig because I needed a replacement. If my old ipod had not crapped out on me i don't know that i would have got the iTouch.

With that said i have enjoyed the itouch a lot. I subscribe to a half dozen video pod casts. I keep the last 5 posted podcasts on my ipod that I Check for updates once a week. I have a good selection of rock music on it as well as 1 to 2 audio books at any given time. I also enjoy being able to check my e-mail on the unit.

The battery on the iTouch lasts me 2 weeks the way i use my iTouch.

8 GB is more than enough for me, as I usually keep the songs for a month or two mostly. I just never gets full.
