We use the Quiet Comfort 2 over the ear headphones I believe.
All I know is they are ass and I hate them.

My friend got some new Bose headphones. They're amazing. They're also like over $300 but damn, so good

I've only used their earbuds, but I loved the sound quality they gave.

Gotta agree with the comments about Bose... the earbuds deliver amazing quality. It's great, too, because I'll sometimes worry my music is too loud and bugging those around me, so I pop them out to get a sense of how loud they are, and really, only I can hear them. Then again, that's on the subway in Boston at rush hour, so I may in fact have other factors at work here =P

I use Skullcandy as well when I'm at home just chilling, and those tend to do well, the Lowriders. And it may have been said, but they have an unlimited guarantee on their products. So if your headphones blow out six years from now, they'll replace them for free (assuming they don't go under in this economy) They'll also replace your headphones at half-off if you break them yourself, such as snapping them in half, breaking the wire, etc. given that they're built for 'extreme sports'. The quality isn't nearly as good as the Bose, but they're comfortable and you still do get good quality music, and the comfort of knowing that if anything does happen, they'll be replaced.

And now I've ranted. Sorry guys!

...They are not that good, and when you turn on the "noise canceling" feature everything gets all fuzzy...

There's your problem. Noise canceling headphones are pointless. Like you said they make it WORSE.

I wouldn't consider Bose a household name tbh, I've mentioned it to a few people and got funny looks.

If you want a more unique company try Bang & Olufsen. You won't hear their name very often. We've got one of their CD players - http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound3200 - it's not this model as we've had it for a good few years already.

I'd say i have to disagree with you there.  I have a pair of Sony Noise Cancelling headphones (I'm not sure the model) and they're pretty good.  They're only 70% Noise Cancelling or something to that effect but the only time anything gets fuzzy is when the battery is low.  Only then does the bass get all crackly and such.  Otherwise, they do a pretty good job of keeping the sound together.

Right now, i'm looking at getting some in ear buds. I wear glasses, so around the ear stuff isn't an option, and regular earbuds (like what ipods comes with) tend to not fit, and easily come out (they're too small). I traditionally wear over the head headphones, but also thinking about buds since they take up less room, so not have to worry about getting them smashed as easily in a bag or something (I tend to be a bit rough and break the plastic bands on headphones). Due to being rough, looking at the $20 and under range. Either buds or headphones, but leaning more towards headphones.

I'm not sure if you found your headphones yet, but my experience with looking for cheap headphones the best ones i have found are Sony Dynamic Stereo Headphones (MDR-V150). Those headphones I have even found to be a little better then a pair of Sennheiser headphones I bought some time ago. I think the sound on the Sony headphones is good. They're not the sturdiest. So if your like me, someone who falls a sleep with them on, or is just clumsy, you might need to buy a new pair every couple of months, but it's a lot easier to replace $20 headphones then $130 ones.  They will run you anywhere between $16-$21 depending on where you go. They're also pretty easy to find, you can find them normally at places like Best Buy, Target and The Omega Evil (Wal-mart).

I've got the same Sony headphones, MDR-V150.  I've had them for a few months and they work well.  Produces a decent sound, at least there are no faults that I can detect.  They do feel a bit fragile, but I don't fall asleep in them.  I have dropped them a few times though...

Does anyone have experience with the Apple "pro" in-ear headphones? I'm sure they are good, but I want to know if their sound quality and comfort justify the price. As a warning example, the iPod Hi-Fi did not, though it was a decent system.
