I don't which game has the best soundtrack but Mirror's Edge has a very good theme. I probably like it more because I was able to learn it on the piano... but, I still like it. Smiley

I really like the original Legend of Zelda theme.  It sounded great for an 8bit game, but then once you hear it expanded upon by an orchestra...

Also, Metroid Metal!

I have the Halo 3: ODST soundtrack pre-ordered. Martin O'Donnell reportedly composed over three hours' worth of music, which have been distilled into two CDs of slightly-familiar but completely new themes, with a film noir feel.

Hmmm.....Sounds like a sound purchase to me.

Edit: Upon downloading the soundtrack and listening to it, I must say it would definitely be worth the money.  If I had any, I'd throw it down for it Smiley

Xenosaga Episode 1 had probably one of my favourite soundtracks of all time.
As was previously said, chrono cross and trigger, as well as the obvious FF. If you ever want to see the best live orchestrated music, look up The Black Mages. Uematsu at his finest.
Any Zelda. Just classic.
Also, can't believe this hasn't been said, but Mario kicks all sorts of awesome Cheesy

I had a semi-recent discussion about in-game music that we cannot independently disable.
Quote
I've often wondered why almost no games developed by Nintendo offer options for sound and music. I'm not greedy; having independent sliders or just simple switches would be nice. The Mario Kart series, for instance, would have increased replay value if I didn't have to suffer through its repetitive melody loops.

Is it too much to ask that Nintendo joins the era of custom soundtracks, either in-game or manually?

Thoughts?
