There was a guy in my class whose last name was Gilgeson (as in GILL-geh-son)  and one day this substitute teacher butchered it into "Gigglestein".

At first he was shocked someone could mess it up so badly, but later he started using Gigglestein as a nickname.  Constructive!

My name is a fun one....

caoihmin. Any guesses on its pronunciation?
Kevin.
So I go by Kevin, because the variety of pronunciations that teachers/friends/people in general have attempted for caoihmin is huge.

Yay for weird names!

Teehee! My first name is normal, but my last one is a lot easier than it apparently looks: D'Allura. duh-"lore"-uh. But I've heard all sorts of interesting interpretations, and people like to throw "i"s in there for some reason. In middle school, the secretaries always called me Dialuria (which sounds more like diahhrea) no matter how many times I corrected them. Many people put a pause where the apostrophe is, which is understandable.

By the way, it's Italian. My grandmother says it means "beautiful." I don't know any Italian myself, but if anyone has any insight/confirmation I'd be glad to know it. Smiley
