New? Lost? Confused? This is the place to refer to when you're experiencing any of these symptoms. A spoonful of help, a friendly hand (perhaps a bit of reading) goes a long way in finding a cure!

We here at the Applegeeks Forums are relatively kind people and quite open about almost everything. There are some boundaries and that's why this thread exists. We enjoy the growing community but we also enjoy some order so if you haven't done so already, please refer to the rules.

MEET THE MODS
If you have any questions, concerns, or problems feel free to private message any of the mods or admins. Who may they be? Well...

Hawk
ananth,
BatmanPPC
Rose
Hellmark

We're not always available but we usually respond to you as soon as we can.

POSTING ETIQUETTE

Before posting, you may want to use the search function to see if what you're posting is just a repeat. If you have a question, the search may help you find an answer. If you're just out for a discussion, you're free to revive the old thread if what you have to post is relative to the original topic.

We also discourage the use of one-word posts. If you have nothing to contribute, just don't say anything.

Another thing we discourage is the use of bright, bold, big colored words unless deemed necessary.

Something we HIGHLY recommend doing is using proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. It's not that hard and if English is a second language we'd really appreciate the EFFORT at the least.

Try not to stray from the original topic of a thread, please!

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

We really hate to punish anyone as we're a generally good group of people but we do crack down when we need to. To prevent hard times for all we just ask you a few simple things.

Don't flame or troll anyone. It's possible to disagree with people without being a jerk about it.

No spamming. We hate spam mail, we hate forum-spam. We don't want to sign up for things. We hate porn...well...on the forums, anyways. And we definitely are against any tubgirl or lemonparty (etc.) posts.

We ask that no one acts like a "backseat mod". That is to say, stop stealing our jobs. Cheesy It's okay to tell someone to stick to the topic or to use the search function (politely) but just keep in mind what you're saying, how you're saying it and if this should be left up to a mod or not.

-----

So it might look like a lot, but it's actually pretty simple. We're actually really fun people and we have no problems with new people coming in. Some other things you should know:

If you're looking for a more chat-based environment, AppleGeeks also has an IRC Channel you may be interested in. Just click here for more information.

Each forum may or may not have their own set of rules.

Sketchadoodle Monday is a way for you to show off your creativity whether or not you're an artist.

Listen to Rose, she speaks the truth.  ^_^

Also if you are a newbie and you need help with something and its the rare occasion that none of the moderators are around, don't be afraid to ask a few of us more long-term members for help.

I am truly thankful for a gesture such as this. Being an inexperienced one is not a fantastic experience, though we have all been there, so thanks!

Well, what if sometimes you have a question and there isn't a place for it(thread), and I don't want to "stray from the topic" so I'm not sure if I could start a new thread... I would be grateful if someone would help. Grin

It depends! You can either post it, and then put it back on topic or PM someone...you could make a new thread, depending on the question. Your question regarding the question is a bit vague, sorry.

First of all, search for the topic. chances are pretty good that someone has addressed it (e.g. hawks coloring style)

Second, if you couldn't find the topic, look for the main thread that is closest to the topic (applegeeks comics, art corner, general chat, etc.) then look around for something similar.

If you can't find anything, start a new thread or pm a mod, no big deal.

And of couse, always do your best to keep it in line with the rules (rose has a link in her first post)

Hope this helps; this is usually how i go about starting a new topic.

Trolls, in my experience, are people who deliberately start trouble; as in someone who will deliberately disagree with a post and then flame the person, or make a series of snide and offensive comments, or post inappropriate pictures with a member's name on it ( Shocked Yeah, that did happen on a forum I go to once), etc. Does that help Chippy?

Yeah, General Discussion is basically an off-topic forum. It has no real purpose except conversation.

I was forced to join this forum, having thought of a deeply silly comment about AL Lite 248.
It's great to see Applegeeks maintaining it's cool credentials by running Simple Machines.

Is there anyplace here for people who do not like to do anime work?

Note:  I like anime,  I just do not do it.  I work on photographs and video.   Smiley Smiley Grin

This is actually a glitch in the system. Please direct this concern to BatmanX's Office Smiley
