You guys are kinda missing my point here - a small, "one man" web comic is making videos! Regardless of the content's staleness or repetitiveness (I really don't see it, but I'm not a comic artist), the whole affair gives web comics that much more legitimacy.

Its not a simple endeavour either.

I see this as a good thing!

i agree. this is a new concept for webcomics. a lot of webcomics have some kind of (usually shitty) flash cartoon tied to them but i cant think of any with an actual proper animation (watch some bright spark prove me wrong)

regardless of what you think of ctrl+alt+del, its an interesting development

I lik CAD, and the trailer doesn't look bad. I just wonder what the voices will be like. I understand the reasons for charging, and if I ever get spare cash, I might pay to see one ep to see if it's good or not. I think the first one should be free anyway just so people can know if they want more. At least that, or a better trailer with voice work.

a new concept for webcomics, but not comics in general.

That is really cool.  If I knew about the comic, I'd subscribe.

Personnally i like CAD, and if you look through the archives of Applegeeks and Cad youll see that they do do strips that interconnect.  And Hawk did a poster/bookcover for them.

Beside the point of weather or not one likes cad or not, this is a big thing for webcomics, they are accually going to make a show of it, and with good flash animation too.

I'm a little confused as to why there's so much animosity towards CAD. I'm not their biggest fan, and of course, anyone and everyone has the right to dislike the comic. But why do some people seem to hate Tim and this attempt to branch out his story? That blog post especially confused me, as the writer seemed to really, really dislike Tim and anything Tim did.

I'm rather new to the webcomics scene, so maybe I'm missing something. I'm just a little perplexed as to why people seem to be going out of their way to besmirch CAD. There's nothing wrong with disliking it, nor is there anything wrong with criticizing it. But why do some people have to hate Tim for simply creating a comic and then having some people like it?  Huh

I just see it as Tim Bukcley doing it for the money. I like the comic and everything, but not enough to actually consider putting any money in it.

Also, as a 16-year-old I don't find it all that great. Just another comic I have at the bottom of my long list of comics.

in regards to CAD making that step from print comic to animation, i do agree that it's a big step.  i just think that there are many more comics that would deserve an animated version, penny-arcade for example.
like i said before, i'm not a fan of the comic.  i read it when i've got nothing else to do and there aren't any threads to comment on here Wink.  his storylines, the ones that are original, aren't appealing to me and i find them to be rather blah.
i don't think i said this before, but i'm also not that big of a tim.  that's more of just differences in personality and i picked that up from his blog, or livejournal, whatever.
I just see it as Tim Bukcley doing it for the money.

i feel the same way.  PA supports there efforts mostly through the sale of merchandise and commisioned work, and they give back in the form of child's play.  tim gets money off of merchandise, commisions and now this animated show, but doesn't seem to give back.  i might have missed it if he does since i don't read any of his posts anymore (they all just seem to be about how great he is and how great his comic is, so i lost interest fast.).
it all comes down to supporting something you like, just like the donations or actions that AG has.  if you like CAD, go ahead and pay for the animated shorts.  but if not, then don't complain about it.  orion and i don't like it so we're not going to pay for it, but we're also not going to go and complain to tim about how we think about his stuff.  the only reason i wrote this up is because someone asked why i, we if anyone wishes to jump on here, feel the way we do.

and i guess the remark about having to be a 15 year-old to enjoy this should have been stated more along the lines of CAD being juevinile humor.  it still can appeal to alot of people, i know 30 year-olds that still laugh at dick and fart jokes.  humor is relative.

Well about that...

Also, for the entire month of December, I will be donating all of my profits from any CAD merchandise to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude's enormous operating costs are covered in large part by donations from people like you and I. Not only do they treat and care for children with cancer and serious illness, but they are on the cutting edge of medical research to try and cure and prevent these horrible diseases.

Btw i'm not a huge CAD fan, i like QC, PA and AG more but i wouldn't call CAD juvenile humor..
Look at the current AG strip up, and previous ones about "Boobies", if you call CAD juvenile and AG is too..
