No.  Getting along is bad.   Tongue

But if you CAD/Buckley haters want something to read, check out the forums for the Rapscallions, the previously CAD WoW guild that Tim disbanded.

But along the lines of animated webcomics, does anyone else think animated Sluggy Freelance would be awestacular?

I don't mind CAD.  Its better than what a lot of people think, though it needs to go back to its roots a little bit.  Over the last year or so its become a little bit to serious or story line orientated, and when it has gone slap-stick.... well, lets just say that there is only a certain amount of Chef Brian that you can take.  The occasional 'Arrow through the lungs' and Ninja head decapitation or at least something like that does wonders because its random mindless stuff, though not stupidity orientated.  In a nut shell, its something that everyone will get and laugh at.  In a way, CAD has lost a little bit of that spirit, unlike AG and Little Gamers (Yeah, that swedish pimp duo! Tongue) which has made it a magnet for critics.

Yeah, I don't understand the animosity towards Tim personally.  Sure, CAD may not be illustrated as well as Copper or MacHall, or written as well as Achewood or Penny Arcade, but CAD is ok.  Plus, as far as FREE ENTERTAINMENT goes, CAD is heads and shoulders above probably ninety percent of the comics to be found on the web.  As for the CAD cartoon, some people may not know that Tim Buckley is one of the few people that actually tries to make his living off of his webcomic.  So of course he's going to try new things to bring in new revenue, because otherwise he'd have to go get a real job.  That's why comics like CAD, Achewood, and Penny Arcade are updated pretty much like clockwork, while side projects like Applegeeks, MacHall, and Butternut Squash can afford to updated at the creators' liesure.

I personally love CAD. I know a lot of people rate Penny Arcade highly, but in my opinion it's complete junk - I didn't find any of it funny, and it was just plain stupid, not good humour.

I'll look into this CAD Animation before committing myself to anything, but it does look interesting.

Repeated for emphasis, though I some how doubt that Hawk and Ananth would like being refered to as side-projects, being the prime Apple pimpin Merch that they are.   Wink

I've been following loads of webcomics for quite some time, and have come to love CAD (Not as much as AG, Though XD). I think the whole animation thing is a great idea. It is fairly origional. Some places have done it before, but not to this extent, and i'm sure that they didn't have as many followers.

Its something new for everyone to look at. Yeah, you have to pay for it, but the people that are making the animation wouldn't do it for free.

Basically, it means that I don't have to read the comic now. Haha. *Is teh couch potato*

I didn't mean any disrespect by the "side projects" remark.  I only meant that though Hawk and Ananth obviously put a lot of time and effort into each comic, when Final Exams are up at the same time a comic is to be posted, Finals wins every time.  And that's totally understandable because what with this not being a primary source of revenue in life, of course it may take a back burner at times.  What I don't get is that apparently there are people who don't understand this.  I mean, Applegeeks is a FREE comic, so of course they get to be far more liberal with their releases.  Now if Jeph Loeb or Jim Lee are late on a comic, obviously that's a whole other story, seeing as how I'm shilling out 3 bucks a month for what they're creating.  I'll buy it if it's late anyway, but at least then I've got a right as a consumer to be perturbed.

The show looks boring.

I used to read the comic, but...it just got repetative. There are a few goldmines in there, but really he just takes what the general gaming poplulation is feeling and turns it into a web comic.

You should read this blog post. Start at the 5th paragraph to see what I'm referring to.

If I listened to a faggot who looks like he's pretending to be in the military about humor, I might not like CAD either. But, I don't. I think it's a great comic, it's the one that I started and I'll continue reading it, no matter what that idiot Stahl says.

I think that's a little harsh, there. But that's just me.

I read most of the archives of CAD, and I have to agree, it is a little repetative. But... yeah. I'm a sucker for animation, so one never knows.

I think though that Tim is up himself too much if he even thinks that CAD is Television material though. (Tim's latest Rant)

Animation: ok

Webcomic: not bad, I like it a lot.

Television: Whatever Tim has been smoking, well, I want some...... He's too ambitious if he thinks that it'ld work straight off, simply because no major network would produce something that they don't have the overall royalties to, and CAD is best as a comic strip anyway...... TV would wreak it.

To tell you the truth, I doubt that even Penny Arcade could successfully go to Television......

I'm not so sure. IIRC, The Boondocks went straight from newspapers to the television, without any sort of online animation to be a middle-ground for working it out. I think Tim has that to play with, and create enough of an online animation/show to get something good out of it as a pilot and have a shot at getting it placed on tv.

Hm, looking over the posts, there seems to be a huge differing of opinions. Which is fantastic, but it's also asking for trubble xD

Personally, I read CAD, and I really don't mind it. A man that thinks a penguin is blowing up his computer is cute, if not amusing or funny. And he doesn't take himself too seriously, which is always a plus. I think all these comics are great, PvP, PA, CAD, LICD, 8-bit, AG all of them. Buckley is putting time and effort into producing something for someone other than himself, and I think it's a bit unfair to form all sorts of judgements.

None of the comics (well, the more popular ones) are really any better than the others. They all have their forte. AG is great for mac lovers, or people who are just especially intelligent (kidding), Least I Could Do is great for those who love sexual humor, PA is a great comic in a wide variety of aspects. I think to just shove Buckley in a general category and call him one thing or another is making a lot of assumptions.

Personally, I prefer some comics over CAD (LICD, AG, etc), but I still like it. Anyways. That's just me. *Shrugs a bit* And my two cents.

But for serious, animated Applegeeks? *Drool*
