This is off topic a little bit, but whenever I hear people talk about the Transformers live action movie, I always get reminded of this commercial. Gives me a rough idea of what I hope the movie will be like. Smiley

man, I can't wait for this movie.

soundwave as a helicopter? aw man.... I liked him in the stereo format, but I guess its a little outdated. did he appear as a copter anywhere in the series, does anyone know?

If you think about it, Soundwave should be an MP3 player by now. A Decept-iPod if you will.

Did you know....

The original theme song to the Transformers was actually "Chuck Norris--more than meets the eye, Chuck Norris--robot in disguise," and starred Chuck Norris as a Texas Ranger who defended the earth from drug-dealing Decepticons and could turn into a pick-up. This was far too much awesome for a single show, however, so it was divided.

Don Murphy has posted on his board debunking the rumors that the new Transformers movie would be filmed in Vancouver this February.

Murphy says there is "Zero truth" to the reports, and Michael Bay plans to keep production within the United States.

Not quite sure why Murphy and Bay are so against filming in Vancouver. We're a film town, it's cheaper than shooting in California, and British Columbia is pretty much Canada's Oregon (where Transformers takes place). Too bad, as I live in Vancouver, and would've killed to visit the set. I'm sure they have their reasons, though.

I'm geeky enough to spend time to actually draw that out now...

heh... just thinking about this brings back awesome memories.

Helicopter or mp3 player, where do you put Ravage and Laserbeak?

Mp3 player, Ravage and laserbeak shoot out of the memory expansion slot.... or Soundwave could be an Ipod and the minions can come outof his firewire/USB port... though it'd be like taking a dump.

Don Murphy has updated his site with yet another morsel of movie news. Through prose, Don has shared that Spike Witwicky will be written into the movie script. Out with Arcee, in with Spike, what will be next in the Don Murphy Sunday revelation series?

Not too much of a surprise for me. Don Murphy is a fan of the tv show, so I actually assumed Spike was going to be in it one way or another. So long as it's not those meddling kids from those new gosh-darned anime seires.  Grin

I'm still waiting, of course, to hear who will play Optimus Prime and Megatron. Murphy wants the original voices (which I think would be cool, if the actors still sound like they did 20+ years ago), while Dreamworks was more interrested in finding big name actors to fill the parts. As we all know, Dreamworks loves to hire the big names to draw in the crowds, regardless of how good the film is (A Shark's Tale and Madasgacar being prime examples). In my humble opinion, if the voice suits the character, it's fine by me. Given how iconic Optimus Prime is, though, my guess is that it would be better to hire a no-name. Some people really found it difficult to take Liam Neeson as Aslan in Narnia (his voice is rather identifiable), and that definately hurt the film. Maybe Dreamworks needs to remember that James Earl Jones was a no-name who made Darth Vader one of the most beloved movie characters of all time. Not saying Optimus will be, but there's still a lesson there!  Wink

Golly, I wrote a lot there. Sorry, everyone!
