iPod hating, nay-sayer: "Bah! Humbug! That is quite an expensive MP3 player you got there. Don't you know, you can now get a MP3 player with the money you have in your seat cushions. That iPod isn't anything special!"

Me: "Well my iPod plays Video, Music, Can store data like a portable HD as well as play games. Plus..."

*Transforms iPod into fully articulated rumble*

Me: "...it has other features..."

*Rumble flips nay-sayer the finger and smiles before shooting him in the nose*

It's been a nice Transformers weekend.

Over at MTV.com, Tyrese Gibson confirms that he has been cast in the Transformers movie, saying "I grew up on 'Transformers". Also leaked that the budget is $200 million dollars which has quickly become the norm for big summer movies (remember when $200 Titanic was scandalous?). He is one of the cast members thats filming the opening sequences involving Skorponok at Hollaman Air Force base in New Mexico so he is probably playing a military character named Epps. Beyond that, Tyrese shared nothing.

Some Pictures from the set of the movie have been found and are posted on the internet. Their is an image of a Decepticon Police Car with the phrase "To punish and enslave".

The following quote was taken from an extra on the set of the Transformers movie.

Some of my co-workers were Army Medic extras and told me that Bumblebee looks AWESOME! They said that if he was to be stood staight up, he'd have to be at least 25-feet-tall. That's right, they have built a full sized Transformer! The crew member also informed us that this was the only Transformer that they have actually built, as the rest will surely be CGI.

Don Murphy has confirmed over on his boards that Peter Cullen, the original voice for Optimus Prime, has auditioned for the role in the live action movie.

Now this only means that the producers, director, etc are open to the idea of the original voices, not guaranteeing their use. There are political and financial pressures that have to be taken in consideration.

While I admit, the design is a great choice, Bumblebee will always be a Volkswagon Beatle in my heart. He's one of the most recognizable characters because of that, so it's just not the same.

But I'm not too picky. If the movie's done well, I'll still like it.

Trailer Information

As most of us already know and the official website made clear with the countdown, the teaser trailer is coming 6/4/06. If seeing it on your tiny screen doesn't do it for you, check out the teaser with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest when its released July 7th. Just a little warning, most theatres get to choose what trailers go with the movie so no guarantees.

Steve Jablonsky scores a teaser for Transformers

It's more than meets the eye, and won't be in theaters until July 4, 2007 - but today at the Sony Scoring Stage, composer Steve Jablonsky recorded music for the theatrical teaser to the new Michael Bay film, Transformers.

This reeks of awesomeness. I hope it's one of those movies that are just so awesome, that when you finally finish watching it, you want to cry from the glory of it.

a partial look at Bumblebee…Michael Bay style…from the forthcoming movie.
This is NOT a full body shot, but it’s clear enough to get a sense of the aesthtic and approach this new iteration of Transformers will sport.
Personally, I think it’s pretty groovy…although purists may take issue with this (apparently) sportier design.
