It is official as posted over at the Don Murphy's message boards (the pic is a flashing greenlight). What this means is that the movie has the full weight and backing of Dreamworks etc executives. Technically its no guarantee that a final product since the studio can still pull the plug anytime they fancy to do so. However, a greenlight combined with a budget of at least $75million but more likely $100 million, its pretty much a gaurantee that the movie will be made.

When I first told my dad about this movie, he nearly had a siezure. when I told him the people who were working on it, he nearly had a heart attack. When I told him Soundwave was going to be a helicoptor, I believe I saw tears in his eyes. My dad is 53, he was a devoted fan when he was 30, and he still is.

Seriously, we scoured eBay for months so we could find all of the original Transformer toys. And we still check every two days for the few decepticons we missed.

So far the word is Optimus Prime. He's the face of Transformers and the most recognizable by far. He'll probably look quite a bit different from how we remember him, though.

I'm pretty excited about this film. I remember dreaming about a live-action Transformers movie back when I was in elementary school. Of course, that was during the Beast Wars era, and anything to do with transforming cars was simply nostalgic thinking. If only I had known a little more about the future...

Does anyone else start to feel that their childhood is being raped whenever they look at the cartoons today?

No, that only happens when you find the Transformers yaoi.

Don't want to know...

I meant like Sonic X and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles they have... It's only a matter of time before Darkwing Duck returns.
