The official word is that Timberlake was supposed to rip off the black part, leaving the red lacey part to actually cover the nipple.  Instead, both parts ripped off.

The thing about performers is that they operate very much on the concept of "act like this is what was supposed to happen".  In this case, that meant holding her pose for the close of the song, not reaching up and clutching her breast.  She probably could have swung it, but it's pretty clear it was unexpected, and she reacted by sticking with the rehearsed movement rather than wing it.

didnt she have some sort oif nipple clamp looking thing?

Yes.  It was basically a non-pierce nipple ring (they go around the nipple instead of through) And I'm sorry but as a woman i can't see wearing something like that if i wasn't going to be taking my clothes off and see it.  Metal things with sharp points under tight clothing doesn't really seem like fun to me.

We (me and my classmates) watched the video of Justin ripping her shirt off in 4th period spanish.  The video is somewhere on Yahoo.  Our teacher wondered what we were doing, so he came over and wacthed it with us.  'Twas a good day.

Rugby is a mans games but American football dies has its rough spots. Such as that knee that went through a panthers face gard and landed on his nose

Better than a 17st man standing on your face with studded boots and you not having a helmet or face guard. Happens a lot in Rubgy btw. Not saying American Football isn't rough, it's just quite tame in comparission.
