iMac 27" to quad or not to quad

Whats faster my friends...
The 27" iMac has a 2.8GHZ quad-core i5
or you can get the cheaper 3.2GHZ i3 but its not a quad core.
Which one is faster? The lower 2.8 even though it has quad core or the 3.2 but its not quad core?
Maybe you can muli-task better with quad?
Thanks my friends.

The i5 is faster.
Multi tasking performance depends more on RAM but yes, a more capable processor with more cores would improve multi-tasking performance.
What would you be using it for?
