Wow, the AppleGeeks forum sure has seen an upgrade or four since the last time I visited.

Anyways, I've got a question and I was hoping I could have some help.

When I bought my Intel iMac, I waited until Adobe released CS3 as it would be the first universal binary of the application. They dropped Image Ready, but hey, Photoshop has an Animation's window and can Export Animated GIFs, so no problem right?

Huh  Oddly enough, Photoshop can export Animated GIFs, but it can't open them.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some good Mac software that I can open and edit Animated GIFs in. I'm aware of FireWorks CS4, but I'm not interested in shelling out that kind of cash again,

I've browsed Google, and Versiontracker.com and haven't found any really useful resources.

I've been meaning to ask something like this too.  Since Preview can open .gif animation files but they aren't animated is there any way around this or something that would open .gifs and have them animated?

Quicktime - hit Cmd + L to loop. Cmd + I (IIRC) to adjust the speed as most are way too fast. Grin
Could even use Safari... lolz.

Enjoy.

As for opening GIF's try GIMP or tryout Photoshop Elements 6? Well, it's one version behind the Windows version... Damn you Adobe! I know PSE2 could open them, and have each frame as a separate layer as you'd expect. May also want to Google for GIF plugins etc for CS4.
