With what Canada has for Data plans I plan to stay away from the iPhone.

I have to agree. I'm not getting an iPhone until the data plans here improve. I'm getting a not-so-smart phone for my next phone because I really like my monthly plan..

Well I have another reason for not getting the iPhone, I'm still under my current cell phone contract, and if I wanted to get an iPhone I would have to get a new number with a new 3 three contract, and then kill the current plan and get hit with the cost of that cancelation. not going to spend a single penny more than I should have to just to get a new phone. I can wait and see how things go. But then when it comes to Data plans here in Canada I don't see them improving any time soon. There is no competition between the different carriers.

Finally, after a year of working on a campaign, with a cheap $40 motorola cell phone, I broke down and went in to look for a new cell phone, and I wound up getting talked into an iPhone, and I have to say I'm very happy.

For me, an integrated PDA with telecom and full internet support was what really sold me on shifting over and getting one of these, but what really sold me on it and what stopped me from getting a Blackberry, was the full PHP support in safari, I just cant load my web server's pages on the blackberrys, but I can with an iPhone.

Now if I could only get a terminal app on it as well it'd be perfect.

PHP support? Lol, PHP is server-side. Grin

Safari has VASTLY better support for X/HTML, CSS and JavaScript which is what makes it great!

A good test is the WoW Armoury. Notice it's spelt correctly for UK players not that Blizzard have noticed and left it spelt incorrectly... Cheesy

When I say, PHP support, I really mean that it will properly load my PHP pages from my servers. Blackberry doesn't handle my web pages very well.

PHP is server side stuff. Unless you're using the phone as a webserver, PHP support isnt needed, at all. You need better support for HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Then your Blackberry is having a hard time loading CSS and HTML properly.

Like the people said before me, PHP support has nothing to do with it.

My apologies, I forgot Australians can spell correctly too! ; )

To the guy about 'PHP support' you do realize PHP code is parsed on the server and all that is sent to the browser is HTML? That's the basic principle of it. Of course CSS and JavaScript are sent but not by the PHP engine / parser.

If you want your web pages to display better - get a better browser, why do you think everyone keeps pushing Firefox? Or alternatively depending on your level of skill you could improve your X/HTML etc. Grin

Anyway, back to the iPhone 3G. If Safari on my iPod touch is anything to go by Safari on them is awesome. It even does a damn good job of displaying the WoW Armoury pages. Not sure if the item tool-tips work every time I've been to the Armoury on my iPod its been down for maintenance. >.<

That's why it's good ettiquette to check your webpage on multiple browsers... but it's only been recent (like the last year or two) that phones have been able to view them, thus... it's not standard to test it on a phone... but when phones replace the computer for web surfing, it probly will...

I have a Nokia 2610... it sends text messages, it makes calls, the battery lasts some two weeks... I find nothing appealing in the iPhone, plus, as a side note of ecology (I'm not an activist, I'm a product design student, there's a difference), I see no reason to get a new one while this one still fulfills it's job

Nothing wrong with that. I've been seriously considering dropping the iPhone in favor of something less. I don't need all it's features and I can get something nearly as functional for a lot less monthly. It's tempting.

Apple company has the most expensive rates of their products. I recently bought my iPhone 3G and it is totally expensive. Now, I am looking forward to it's various features and applications.
