it is not normal, but i don't think u should slap it, one question... the noise is produced by any kind of device like a little monophonic speaker? or is it that something is hitting something else, like a kinda "slap"?

Does this happen on POST, right when the computer boots.. is it over the speakers themselves or the internal speaker on the case?

That noice is made by pc's own integrated speaker.
The slap will be good old pimp slap.

Internal speakers and pc have been shut through night

well if it's done by the PC internal speakers then you should see if it's as soon as you power on the PC, if it's then it's normal cuz some PCS make that sound to let know they are starting

My computer makes a beep beep sound when it starts up. It is probably just something like what Aprendiz said.

Actually, funny you should post this now - my EEE PC 4G just started making the same noise when coming back from suspend - but intermittently. I'd say this relates to Hardy Heron specifically - I never experienced anything like it on any machine running Gutsy.

I played around with alsamixer in TTY1 and it seems to have stopped. Could be a specific ALSA setting?

Note: This noise is NOT a POST beep at all. It also seems to increase intensity with each beep - my machine beeps four times when resuming.

Check if esd esound or something similar is running, if the beeps aren't harsh (like the POST ones) it's probably the default startup sound for esd. You can kill the process and start it from root to hear the startup beeps.

Esound isn't running.

Code:
ps ax | grep esound
ps ax | grep esd

returns nothing except grep (obviously).

The beeping noises for me definitely aren't a default startup sound, unless somebody's got a very strange idea of what people should hear when turning on the computer.

Basically, the tones equate to a POST/BIOS self-check.  I would assume, since your machine is still booting and you are receive NO errors during start up, that the beeps signal a successful POST.  You could bust out your motherboard manual and find the speaker plug for the internal speaker and disconnect it from the motherboard, will SILENCE THE BEAST WITHIN... right?

I don't know about Kill Tech, but for me this is not POST. The computer has mostly booted by the time the noises start.
