Hey for any fans of the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher the next installment of the series Small Favor is being released April 1st, I'm pretty excited about it myself, just thought I'd start a thread. Expectations? Thoughts? Opinions?

Jeesh well that stinks. You could try amazon all of his books are up there and there are collections that have three of the books each in them but those are harder to find. But if you liked the show than you'll have a stroke of joy after reading the books.

There is 10 books to the Dresden Files series. Just start with the first one "Storm Front", and work your way through the rest of the series as you can afford it. A couple months back, I read through the series, and they were fantastic. I ended up reading like 500 pages a day, just  couldn't put them down.

Just to keep things slightly condesnsed on the Jim Butcher front he also wrote a novella called Backup from the point of view of another character a few weeks ago whcih you can get now and he's done more than a few Harry Dresden short stories which can be found in collection books.

New Dresden Files book Turn Coat comes out in another few eeks which is pretty great news.

I rewatched the Dresden Files on dvd a while ago just o see if my opinion would be the same. All I'll say is it's a great series and one of the best things SciFi has put out in a very long time, but it just doesn't quite match the Dresden Files. That's my opinion though so take it for what it is worth.

I'm kind of the same way. The TV show was awesome, but, the books are just incredible.

Yeah you can't help but have a really high standard for books like that, for the SciFi channel it was incredilbe though. I think they just chose a few weaker epsiodes to air first which turned some people, myself included, off to it from the start and that hurt it. I still say they needed the duster, the blue beetle, and mouse. Then they'd have been golden.

Well, it also didn't get bad ratings. From what I saw, it was consistently second best on the network, coming up behind Battlestar. Yeah it didn't get the ratings of BSG, but you shouldn't expect a homerun everytime.

*Chuckle* I've never watched an episode of Battlestar Galactica but I do see your point.

Well, you should at least know that BSG was by far their most popular show in years. Dresden Files was cheaper to produce, and had a good following. They just screwed it over, because it wasn't as cheap as other options (IE, crap like Who Wants to Be a Superhero)

So has anyone read Turn Coat yet? If so care to share your thoughts on it? I'd love to lay hands on a copy but I lack the funds at the moment.

I just got a copy today, but yet to read it. It is next in queue after I finish reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
