I think that they did an awesome thing. You try to come up with shirt designs and see how easy it is. Honestly, I don't think that having an orange shirt with some fish in it constitutes as plaigarism (because, after all, that is what you are hinting at... and plaigarism is illegal). Before you diss, try to put yourself in the other person's shoes. If you were trying to come out with a line, and had some good ideas and the resources to produce them, would you like it if someone who didn't like your particular style of clothing came up to you and said it sucked? Everyone has different styles and tastes, that doesn't mean that it is a horrible line of clothing. Its not wasting thier money if they have people buying thier clothes.

The fish is not from Finding Nemo twit.  It's called an Angler fish, look it up, plus their angler has an actual house lamp on the front, instead of just the natural bulb.
Also it's a fashion line/school, and I don't know why you think graphic design has nothing to do with fashion, but look at Mark Eco his stuff all stems from street art, and graphic design concepts.
And if another one of their "stolen" concepts your referring to is the Teenage Mutagenics Ninja Tortoise well my friend that's call parody, and is well within the realms of the legal world.
So try and research before you tell some one their idea is stupid or they're going to get sued for putting out some pretty sweet looking designs that haven't really been seen on the market for a while.

Like Netlatino said, it is really hard to come up with designs that you think that not only you, but everybody else will love. If you don't like the designs, don't buy the t-shirt. it's that simple.

On another note, I'd kind of like to see some of these designs in long-sleeve version, it starting to get cold out and all. I personally think the t-shirts are a great idea, and I can't wait to get the one i ordered in the mail.

The new clothing line you have created is a good idea, but I'm surprised that there hasnt been a lawsuite yet on some of the art in the clothing, for example: Finding Nemo, the orange shirt with the fish in it, I really dont think you can take peoples ideas of characters and mix them up anyway you want to without there permission and put it on a fassion line.
If you want a fassion line, you guys should have went to fassion school, instead of art school or graphic design.
I'm sorry to diss but stick to the art and animation, please. Hopefully you guys wont have to waist money on this.

Alright ... I tried to be polite when I replied to you in the comments (where you posted the EXACT same thing), but since this seems to be important to you, I'll answer.

*facepalms* I don't who you are, but please - just stop. We (several of us) already replied to you in the comments, where we outlined why your legal argument doesn't make any sense. If you didn't check it then, I'll repost what Joe told you to read: http://www.publaw.com/parody.html That's in regard to the TMNT shirt. As far as Finding Nemo, I don't know why you're obsessed with Finding Nemo. It was an okay movie, but the last person I knew so obsessed with Finding Nemo was my ex-girlfriend's 6-year-old cousin. Finding Nemo didn't invent fish, or the color orange.

If you really think that the one naysayer out of everyone we've talked to (Major fashion designers and labels, graphic designers, recording artists, Applegeeks readers, friends, family etc.) - and let me pause here to point out that you've been the ONLY one - is going to make us think twice, you've got another thing coming. I'm sorry to diss too, but if you want to talk about fashion, maybe you should learn how to spell it first.

If anyone has constructive, useful criticism - or more importantly, suggestions on how we can make things better for customers - then by all means let me know. You know me, I don't mind useful suggestions. But please don't be this guy.

Hahaha, not showing my eyes was an in-joke for Applegeeks readers. XD I'm glad people caught it.

Yeah - graphic design, fashion, and new forms of art are all tied pretty closely together. No creative field can really exist independent of others.

Thank you to everyone for being so excited for and supportive of Mutagenics! It's something we've been wanting to do for a while, and to receive such a positive reaction all-around has been overwhelming. I love you guys! XD

I would just like to point out that the last few times I went to the Mutagenics site it said the store was down... but it still lets me browse the wares... is it really down or is that a webmaster snafu?
EDIT:
Disregard the above statement as I didn't check again before I posted, nor did I see Ananth's update on the main page... I'll do my research before posting next time.

I do like the designs though, I've always thought designing shirts and stuff would be awesome.  I also agree that Longsleeve/Hoodie style would be great.  I'm sure you've guys got something like that in the works down the line.
Also Track Jackets and Polos are pretty big in fasion (sic) right now.

We've got plans for a hoodie in the next few weeks - I'll be sure to announce it!

At one point today the store was down - it's back up. It was some serverside trouble at bigcartel.com - Dave from Snafu doesn't actually host out site - he prints our shirts.

One of mine yanks my glasses off with it... so annoying.

While I do cheer you guys on for pulling this together... most of the shirts just don't really interest me... probly cause of my preferable style of clothing.  I could say make something really nerdy or gamer-ish but there's already a crapload of other online stores that do that where I can get shirts from.

However... the sig of mine... a friend of mine made it and he was thinking about getting it printed on a shirt at some point... but, I'd love to have it as a shirt if he ever allowed it to happen, just cause it's awesome...

Either way, while you guys may not have a lot that I am interested in now... who's to say about the future?

Zip-up hoodies for sure. I have the same complaints about pullovers - I think I own one, and all it it does it hang in my closet.

No worries - we knew from the start that these weren't clothes necessarily aimed at Applegeeks readers. We're not going to forget our geek roots, but we've got all sorts of ideas for these clothes. Cheesy I'm sure something more appealing will crop up eventually.

Thanks man! And fashion is just a fancy word for what you wear ... however you dress is your own fashion.

I think it's great how this thread got turned around into an awesome feed back session with Ananth.  You guys totally rock the socks!
If I wasn't totally broke I'd probably order something... until then I'll buy a $4 shirt and sharpie the designs on my self Tongue j/k.  But when I get some spare $$ and the initial rush has calmed a bit, then I'll order some stuff.
