GUYS! I spent an hour this morning looking at old 80s cartoon openings (spurred on by Twitter brethren). I got some pretty fantastic ones, including Bionic 6 (the asian guy knows karate and the black guy is super strong … the 80s were pretty awkward basically all of the time) and Silverhawks. I think my favorite part of the Silverhawks intro is when the one guy is in the cockpit of his starfighter, totally wailing on his guitar.

And then, of course, someone introduced me to the absolutely bizarre Dinosaucers.

So – what 80s intros can you dig up? Post them in the comments, join in the nostalgia trip! I am totally going to put on my LA Lights and ride away on my kick scooter now, see ya!

I first saw Star Blazers on TV in mid-1980’s. That was the only TV show I ever rushed home after school to watch.

Oh man there are just to many to name. I guess the two earliest I can recall off the top of my head are Captain N: the Game Master and GummiBears.

And for a mixture of 80’s cartoon intros, go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKmys-Tys90&feature=fvw Although I can only remember like half of what the shows were about.

Aside from Gummi Bears, does anyone else remember the rest of the Disney Afternoon line-up? (Duck Tales, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, etc.)

Star Blazers: *GREAT* anime! Wish they’d bring it to Cartoon Network…

Thundercats: At least it wasn’t He-Man or, worse, She-Ra

I’m pretty sure neither of these are 80’s, but for cheese cartoon, nothing can be the Mighty Hercules (1960’s) or Samurai Pizza Cats (80s or 90s?).

And C.O.P.S. was pretty awesome.

And of course Captian Planet and the Planeteers!

The Silverhawk you are referring to here is Colonel Bluegrass and the on-board nav system for the Maraj was named Hot Licks.

Galaxy Rangers – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMpsAmWbSJg
This was another one of those shows I remembered watching as a kid, but couldn’t believe what I was seeing now.

So there’s a group of these rangers. One of them is black. Whenever they’re in the spaceship, everyone’s in the cockpit. Except him.

He’s somewhere in the back with the (robotic) horses. I’m not making this up.
