Hey guys, I need one more day to finish Monday comic. Well, actually it’s a pin-up art of Eve. Since the last comic ended with Eve fighting crime. I thought it would be cool to see her on a rooftop looking over the city.

I also kicked it back to old school by using pen and ink on mat board. Here is what I have so far.

The stone Eve is standing on was created with black india ink (which got me in trouble at the airport security, but that’s a whole different story) and a brush.

Hope you like it.

I’m really curious about how the ink got you in trouble with airport security.. as I was planning to take some with me on a trip… @_@

Even though the ink was in a small container, the lady that ended up going through my bag didn’t know what it was. She ended up asking me asking stupid questions and treated me like I was 10 year old when I tried to explain to her the airport at D.C didn’t have a problem with it.

If you’re high up, shouldn’t it be windy?

I really like that art style for the comics. Kinda wish Hawk would go back to that style again. I like the more cutsey-chibi style, but really like this style better. Just my $0.02…

I would like to go back to that style too but as you can see it takes longer to do.

Hey hawk, love to see that people still enjoy working in the original mediums despite being so proficient on the digital end, keep it up you are an inspiration.

What kind of brush are you using with the india ink? Your lines are so fine and smooth. Quite impressed with your technique. I haven’t had as much luck with nibs before, that’s for sure.

I second this comment- I have a good few brushes for other uses, but never do know what to use with ink!

I usually use a really thin brush for inking – my favorite being a #0 Golden Sable. It’s pretty pricey, but it doesn’t have to be. I use that kind just because there’s less shedding in comparison to a lot of other brushes I’ve used. Your local art store should sell them individually so I recommend asking their associates

As always, a marvelous job. The question I have, as a (hopefully) budding artist, is did you sketch out where you’d place the ink before hand? Or are you intuitively placing it?

Also, whats the background going to look like?

i find it funny that each serious illustration you done of eve makes her more feminine (and sexy) compare to her cute semi-chibi self in the comic. keep up the good work

ps. is that all ink or what pencil you use?
