EDIT: Yuko’s still filling in for Hawk, but the next update will be next Thursday instead of next Monday – sorry guys and gals! A weekend away doesn’t leave a lot of time for a comic. ;_;

Just a heads up, Yuko and I will be in State College, PA for Setsucon this Saturday and Sunday! I’ll have a bunch of Applegeeks stuff, and we’ll also be bringing some of Yuko’s prints and the last of the Phoenix Down shirts. Hope to see you there!

Sorry about that! (Haha, not really.) Got a couple of things to say today!

  • Yuko is still filling in over here – Johnny Wander will be updating tomorrow!
  • Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment in answer to my last post. You guys gave me some very thoughtful answers and I’m thinking a lot of things through … I’ll have plenty of stuff to talk to Hawk about when he gets back. ;)
  • Yuko and I are thinking of ordering more of those Phoenix Down shirts – it seems there’s still some people who want them. Are you guys interested?
  • The first round of proofs on the book are in! While I was looking it over I got a neat idea about the contents and basic book structure, but I don’t think I can talk about it. D:< I am chomping at the bit wanting to tell you guys, but it'd get me in trouble. ;_;
  • Johnny Wander has an ad banner over at Dominic Deegan right now! I didn’t realize we used onomatopoeia so often.

The reason the banner is up there is because Conrad helped redo the layout over at DD, and he also helped program the Johnny Wander site. Conrad is a programmer currently based out of Washington D.C., and he’s a very talented guy – if you’re an employer who needs some freelance work done, check out his portfolio site and resume if you think he might meet your needs. He’s sharp, efficient, has a good eye, is a quick study and is very enthusiastic about his work. I really can’t recommend him enough.

Brian Wilson’s new comic Geist Panik is going strong, but the real reason I’m mentioning it is because he killed me in panel 3, hahaha! Nice.

The latest comic is up, guys! Once again, guest artist Yuko Ota is filling in. Poor Jayce … it’s tough to be macho in an apron.

I’m back from a vacation to visit Yuko’s folks in New Jersey. We went into the city and picked up a few things at Book Off, like Jeff Smith’s Shazam!, which turned out to be a surprisingly good read. Jeff Smith is like a surgeon when it comes to exposing the little kid in you – two panels and there it is. We also dropped in on the Geeknights guys, where we played 8-player Bomberman (this was awesome).

I’m writing up revisions on the first proof of the book! It’s looking great and things are moving suspiciously smoothly. Preorders are still open (hit the banner over on the right if you’re interested).

It’s a new year! Applegeeks has been running for a while now, and over that span of time I’ve left a lot of plot threads open. Is there anything you’d particularly like to see? I’ve got a dozen directions I could steer us in, and I need help deciding. ;) Since Hawk isn’t here, I’m curious to hear what you girls and guys have to say.

Hey guys! Just a little heads up, Xero Reynolds of Xerjester.com is open for commissions! Thus far he’s been doing primarily WoW characters. You can see his other commissioned work at his DeviantArt, or you can click on the sample of his work below:

Yuko Ota is the regular artist over at our co-created comic Johnny Wander – she’s graciously offered to fill in on some of the comics for Hawk while he’s gone, like those other times.

As always, her stuff looks great … I’m always amazed at how expressive her faces and body language are. Yuko will be filling in on Mondays while Hawk is gone. I’m still looking to arrange something for Thursdays, so those are unfortunately still a maybe. Oh! I did pass Hawk about 20 AG Lite scripts before he left, so those will definitely update like usual.

Oh, obligatory mention – Applegeeks Volume 1 is available for preorder. Click here or click the banner over on the right to take a look – preorders are 20% off! I have no idea how we’re managing that, but it’s pretty cool.
