Buzz!

When I got home from work, I saw this little fella just sitting there. So I tried to get as close as possible and took a shot.

I guess all artists get this same desire to photo Bees. Onezumi did something similar awhile ago also: Wings.

Nice pic. That’s a girl bee. Worker bee, specifically. Drones can be found outside the hive, but they never collect pollen/nectar. Nor can they sting. Their sole purpose is reproduction, and they die after successful mating (because their bits are torn out…ouch). Additionally, when food supply is about to drop in the fall, because of less pollen/nectar being gathered, the worker bees (all girls, of course) drive all the drones out of the colony, where they die. This happens any other time food becomes scarce.

Good shot of a helpful bee, back ground is good. If you get a chance, try the 100 or 110 macro lens. You dodn’t have to get so close. Just goes to show you, you can find a good shot anywhere!

Hawk dear, those are cupcakes, not brownies. Cake batter + muffin shape = cupcakes. Brownies are chocolate squares of deliciousness.

Bees are scary…

The picture is really pretty, but I don’t think you could pay me to get anywhere near one of them.

E-pins are too expensive anyway.
