So while I feel like Talk like a Pirate Day (it’s today) has gotten a little old, people are free to celebrate whatever holiday they wish. However, I did wake up to this on my Twitter this morning:

and I think it’s fair to say that no one is going to be able to top that. The Mars Phoenix rover is the first recorded instance in history of a Space Pirate. I’m tipping my hat to you, NASA! We’re one step closer to the dream.

Hahah! I hated this day mostly because of students around me but this made me love it! =] I have add the Phoenix rover to my Twitter. By the way, What is yours Ananth? =]

i’m holding out for “talk like a ninja day” to hit the public eye. it would be a bit difficult since ninjas don’t really talk and just go crazy and kill people all the time though.
i’m still waiting for it to go public anyway.
You mean?
*mouth moves no sound*
“You killed my Father! Prepare to die!”
*mouth continues to move*
no, that’s poorly over-dubbed kung-fu. i mean REAL ninjas. the ones that don’t make a sound and then sneak up behind you and slice your head off.
slicing heads off? so much for realism…
Actually, decapitation with swords is possible. It just takes a lot of effort. It helps if you’re using a katana (or any similar weapon - the curve and 2 handed hilt are all that matter) and know how to swing properly. As we’re talking about ninja, the fact that you’re victim is unaware should be a given - it also helps.
Ahoy, me mateys! I jus’ be waitin’ fer NASA ta invest the doubloons into Ninja Cat-Girls, and we be even closer to The Dream!
I think “the first recorded instance in history of a Space Pirate” is probably the best thing I’ve read all day.
:DDDD Truly an historic moment!
I shall tell my children and my children’s children of this moment. *wipes tear from eye* my life in now complete.
I can see it now… “When I was your age there were no space pirates!” (and I had to walk to school, up hill, both ways, in the snow, while it was 120 degrees outside!)
Truth be told though, as-per Ananth’s post… we actually did see the birth of space pirates… maybe not in their ultimate state, but the birth at least. Ahh, to behold the space pirate in it’s infancy… so much potential, so much to look forward to (or eventually dread).
But it’s a machine. Can machines be pirates? Definition of Pirate: a person who robs or commits illegal violence at sea or on the shores of the sea.
you need to watch futurama.
ROTFL!
That depends on how you define person. Depending on that, sufficiently developed AI’s and their mechanical manifestation could be considered people.
Robots are people too!
