Hey guys, I was just chatting with Dave Cheung … he and Jamal Joseph started updating Chugworth Academy again, and Dave wanted me to spread the word. Oh, the comic is definitely not safe for work! Some of the time, anyway. XD

So the new AG Lite is about a purported script for a He-man movie that’s been “Batman-Beginsified” … I winced … I love the nostalgia of old cartoons and I like it when they do remakes of some of this stuff, but He-man was so goddamned corny, there’s some things that should just be allowed to lie. It doesn’t help that I saw most of my He-man dubbed into Hindi back when I visited my cousins in India every other summer, but hell - have you seen He-man?! I can only hope this “re-imagining” involves … you know, clothes. Pants would be a start.

I also winced at the term Batman-Beginsification (or whatever). With Batman, the re-imagining made sense because there was a context for it - historically, the character gets interpreted any number of ways, and that’s why the re-imagining worked. Not so for He-man … Are we going to see a slew of movies like this? Somewhere in Smurf Village, Papa Smurf is callously shot while bringing Brainy Smurf home from the movies. Brainy Smurf travels the world training so that he can come back and defeat the new threat to Smurf Village - Jokey Smurf. It’s just going to be super-buff, super serious dudes running around in diapers, dopey hats, and blue body paint. Good night, everyone.

Comics couple superteam Hope Larson (Chiggers, Salamander Dream) and Bryan Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim, Lost at Sea) have collabed on a sweet short comic called Bear Creek Apartments. Saying anything at all about it is already saying too much, so check it out!

Some of you might have gotten an email from Megagear, stating the Eve figurines were back in stock. This isn’t true.

Sarah accidently put the figurines back in stock, which triggered almost 300 emails to go out for people who wanted to get notified if it came back in stock.

So I was asked by Fred and Sarah to let everyone know the figurines are NOT back in stock, that it was an error on their part, and that they apologize for the notification email.

If you guys remember, things ended on an awkward note last time (The story arc started here). Let’s see what happens. ;)

Doing this little mini-story arc about a picnic makes me remember going on the occasional childhood picnic out on the mall in DC. My folks would take us out there early in the morning, to see the Air and Space museum and then eat sandwiches afterwards. There I was, 10 years old and stuffing my face, thinking to myself, “Spaceships are sweet.” Well, I’m 24 now, and eating breakfast, and thinking to myself, “Spaceships are sweet.” So hey, looks like I’ve made some progress … I can feed myself, right? And I can italicize my thoughts.

The new AG Lite, I don’t want to say it’s based on fact, but as a responsible citizen I feel there are some things I should make you privy too.

Yuko got a Magellan recently, and it’s changed the way we do things quite a bit. Besides giving directions, it also allows you to look for things near your current location, and you can search by category: coffee, restaurants, libraries, movie theaters, night life, hardware stores, grocery stores, etc. Nowadays, even if we’re somewhere unfamiliar, we don’t worry about wasting gas, because Isabella (after the Queen who sent Columbus on his journey) will lead us straight to it. Well, her name used to be Isabella.

A few months ago, Yuko and her roommates were down in Maryland house-hunting. Isabella says, “Make a right onto Beltsville Drive”, and then there’s a pause as we turn and then the new directions come. “Stay for two miles on Beltsville Doctor.” Hahaha, that was pretty funny. Then we got to the end of the street and she said to us, “Perform illegal u-turn.” Uhh … weird … ohh, wait. “Perform a legal u-turn.” Haha, she was just saying it too fast. Cute.

Weeks later, Yuko was driving from Rochester to Beacon, which is roughly a 5 hour drive. She bunched in her destination, set the start point as “Current Location”, and off she went. For two hours in the wrong direction. When Isabella told her it was 12 hours to her destination, yes, something was amiss. Something terrible. And that was when we knew, and Isabella got her new name: GLaDOS.
