The information regarding Snow Leopard (aka, OS X 10.6) is still pretty sparse, and has received little media attention compared to the 3G iPhone. That said, Apple’s Snow Leopard page is now live, and highlights some pretty neat tech. It should be pretty exciting to see what’s being done with Grand Central and OpenCL, though I suspect it’ll be a while before we see anything live. From reading about what’s planned, it sounds like 10.6 will primarily be focused around the “fit and finish” of the operating system, adding polish, speed, and reliability to the new technologies they’ve been piling into OS X with each new update. The last time we had a “polish” release was 10.1, so I’d say it’s due.

(For the server-geeks out there, the 10.6 Server page is here.)

With the announced features already… I feel hopeless; I don’t know what any of it means. lol

I should, but eh.. I don’t necessarily need to know all of this stuff- only that it’ll run faster and more fluidly. Snow Leopard is and awesome name! :]]]

The funny thing is that just the other day I was wondering what they were going to call the next OS X too… Snow Leopard eh? Is OS X 7.0 going to be called Siberian Tiger? =D

I was kind of thinking “Ocelot” or possibly “Liger”. :)

You know, I was thinking the same thing. They’re almost running out of felines. Maybe they will start to go towards domesticated cats. OS X 8.0 Calico Cat

Well snow leopard is more like a service pack update, that what we have purchased from apple in the past.

I also wouldn’t call it now live, if I’m having issues finding the page with out someone’s else link.

It’s easy enough to find.
Mac > Mac OS X > Scroll down to the box above the directory at the bottom.
Seems ‘Live’ enough to me.
