lol Children never pay attention to the details do they?? It’s a cute idea tho.

its not that they don’t pay attention to details its that they have too much confidence in themselves to even fathom that their infallible plans could glitch, now if only we could retain and apply this confidence to other, more fruitful, ventures….

I thought kids always had rope handy in any plan.

Maybe that was just me.

Definitely a cute story, and it has a nice lesson.

very nice. to repeat the others: a ladder or a rope should work fine, and as Sam Gamgee always says, “you should never be without a bit of rope.”

Cutest.Plan.EVER

Too bad physics and real life burst young Hawk’s bubble.

Perhaps he should have added a window at the very top of the building? An apple shaped window, one which opens only after the storm calms down. At least young Hawk wouldn’t have been alone in the building (and what about oxygen?). Either way, this plan is absolutely adorable and well-thought. How old were you when you thought this up?

Living outside of New Orleans and having my life.. flooded.. a few years ago. This, while bringing back memories, makes me smile.

Thank you sir,
Any bit of closure is welcome.

Am I the only one amazed that kids have an incredible understanding of fluid mechanics, but fail at “easier” stuff like multiplication tables?

as a child I always found it difficult to believe that multiplication could save my life… or any types of math between geometry and basic addition, subtraction, and measurement. Thus far I have been right, sadly I learned that multiplication makes geometry easier and thereby was tricked into learning my times tables.

Despite the cuteness of it all, I find the artwork really…
I dunno, it just makes me wanna look at it. Something about the water/column collision.

Just wondering how does Little Hawk get in the boat.

Also it’s a good idea. Safe from all the water but forever imprisoned in the thing that protects you from it.

build “steps” onto the interior of the column wall by having evenly spaced bricks jut out?

Rather than employing a boat though, maybe just have the huge column wall with a single hatch entrance at the stop? That way, you’d climb in during the storm, stay dry as it passes over, and then climb back out afterward? That way, you could store supplies inside too, so you could survive if you were trapped for days/weeks. I guess going to the bathroom would be an issue, but you could always just climb out to do your business.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but if the pipes were just run straight through the wall, wouldn’t they continue letting water in until it overflowed from the top? Then you’d just have to figure out how to get the boat back to the level of the standing water.

well, fluid mechanics and laws of physics state that the water on the inside won’t get any higher than the water level outside (unless he used a pump to bring in the water).
