Most people whined about CG and the truly superhuman things the Hulk did. Now I didn't read the Hulk comics much when I still read comic books but I remember him being able to do all those things. And if you are going to have a 12foot tall green man doing that might as well make him all CG since so much of him would have to be animated anyways. I didn't like the first movie but I wouldn't call it a failure from the story standpoint. It was true to the Hulk from as far a I can tell.
