Hee! Very cool!
I especially like the one of the temple courtyard - the green leaves contrast very well with the beige stone.

Its hard to forget the natural and cultural beauty of this little part of the world, and i sincerely mean it, I was born and saw most of Pakistan before I moved out to Canada.

Wow…all those carvings. It’s so beautiful and all I can think is how long must it have taken to do all of that?
Great pictures!

Getting the right equipment (har har) can go a long way. I’m not sure there’s really any replacement for a good DSLR. The one my family used to take those photos is the Nikon D40.

The pictures came out amazingly, I can’t imagine what the trip was like for you mentally. Going to places like that, particuarlly if they are part of your heritage, can do a lot for you emotionally.

You must have travelled to another India then where I have been. Such empty places on the photos. The India I’ve been to was covered with LOTS of people.

These places are out in the middle of nowhere, half the time. The other half, a city has cropped up around the city or castle, in which case there are people everywhere down in the city, but not necessarily in the castle or temple.

doesn’t sound very organised to me but i gues it works for them.

We’re talking about castles that slowly grew to be population centers. Organization in the modern context has little to do with it - it used to be that cities appeared wherever there were seats of power. The castles have fallen out of use because the monarchies are gone, but no one is going to up and move a city now.

You have to step out of your own head and think about these things from different angles.

Pretty sweet pictures man, you seem to have enjoyed yourself despite being sick, good job (this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that once I went on a really cool vacation but got so sick there that when I grabbed a cab to get from a restaurant to a hotel I actually managed to pass out and fall of in the middle of an intersection… of curse not).

You know, I’m always amazed at some people’s (and their sexy, sexy camera’s) photography skills. These shots are just about National Geographic quality.

I’m torn between the third, fifth, and last ones in terms of epic win. Bravo, and the place seems gorgeous…may have just been added to my list of countries/areas I’d like to visit one day.

Man, they do it unbelievably fast. I’d say the design on my hand took 5 minutes, tops. There’s no other way to put it except that these guys are really professionals … I wish I had a video, it was just bam bam bam.

Wow, Ananth, absolutely amazing shots there. I envy you, I’ve always wanted to visit India, from your pictures, it looks even more spectacular than I imagined!! Some of those pillars and temples must have taken so long to build, let along carve.

Also, looking at your flicker, the rest of the pictures are amazing as well, and I admit, I had a geeky squee of pure joy when I saw the bats!

It sucks that you were sick, but in some of the pictures where it shows you you look quite serene, so I hope you enjoyed yourself, it looked like a blast!
