Katsucon’s this weekend! We’ve got a few panels and we’ll have a table with plenty of merch both old and new, so come grab something or just say hey! Hawk’s still doing free sketches at the table, too. Oh, and we’ll be selling the last of the Eve figurines - there’s roughly 40 left, but we’ll only be bringing as many as we can carry, so this is really a last chance deal.  Oh,  and just to remind you guys, the Epic Webcomic Win is still happening this weekend! Enter to win a huge bag of prizes!

Yuko and I picked up a couple of things in the past week - Murakami’s collection of short stories Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman, Eden (a post-apocalypse manga released by Dark Horse), the newest volume of Blade of the Immortal, The Last Musketeer, Densha Otoko, and Dramacon 3. For Christmas, Yuko also got me the handsome hardcover printing of Tezuka’s MW from Vertical. Yuko also recently picked up Kingdom Come and some of Mignola’s Hellboy. I’ve also been slogging my way through Alan Moore’s From Hell, but it is a little dense for my taste. Anyway! If any of you has any interest in hearing me babble about any of these in the next couple of weeks, let me know in the comments! I’d be happy to do some sort of review/recommendation sort of thing.

Congratulations, Eden is my favorite manga, one of the best I ever read. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Awesome, I’ll be sure to mention it after I read through.

We’re comic nerds, but at least we’re classy comic nerds.

How about a Pratchet book. It’s not a Manga but you won’t be dissapointed believe me. Then again you probably don’t have those books over there.0_o

I’m sure Anath will have no problem finding a Terry Pratchett book in maryland. :P

Your not a Potter fan are you?;(

Hahaha, I’m not quite sure what the Potter comment was supposed to mean …

There are Terry Pratchett books in every book store in the United States, I think. He is a very popular writer, and one that is well-known, especially if you’re in the right circles.

Good luck on From Hell. When I finished it, I was a little disappointed.
Literary reviews are always welcome, so please post.

See you tomorrow!

Thanks! I just got to the part where things are finally sort of happening (they just took that ride all over town and then drew on that map), but somehow I’m not finding it gripping.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, you should check out the other largely translated Murakami, Ryu Murakami. His subject matter is a lot darker but it’s still a really fascinating read for those of us who are japanophiles. Coin Locker Babies sticks out in my mind as his best.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Ryu Murakami and especially that book! I’ll make a point of picking it up next time I get the chance.

I’m a few stories shy of finishing Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. I think you’ll enjoy it.

I have to agree that “From Hell” can be a chore. I really enjoy Allen Moore’s work, (SwampThing is awesome!) but I think he’s a writer that really benifits from a great art team and “From Hell” dosen’t have that.
