There’s a new x-men cartoon coming out called “Wolverine and the X-men“. I watched the trailer, I have to say I wasn’t too impressed. Professor and Jean are assumed dead. Scott (Cyclops) turned into a crybaby. The team broke up and now Wolverine is leading whatever team is left.

…without Jean Grey, what’s the point? And as for Cyclops being whiny — what’s knew? On the plus side…it seems much darker

I was under the impression that wolverine wasn’t much of a leader… That he was more of a lone wolf loose canon type. But whatever..

huh sounds like Steve Blum from Cowboy bebop is doing Wolverine’s voice. And what’s up with the Foo Fighters in the back ground? Man love the band but don’t think of them when I hear X-Men.

Yeah, I’m not too impressed. I love Wolverine, but I’m sick of the attempts to put him in a leadership role. Also, I’m just not very impressed with the trailer. Seems to be the same old, same old.

Feels like they’re using the same architecture as the last animated X-men cartoon. Can’t recall the name. Feels similar anyway.

I don’t know, it doesn’t look exactly perfect, but it’s nice to see something that feels more . . . I don’t know serious unlike some of the other superhero cartoons on nowadays. *shrugs* Not sure if I’m a huge fan of the stylized anatomy, but whatever.

Nice to see Wolverine in a more classic costume. At least I think it is. I’m more of a casual X-men fan.

@Monkeytoastjitsu: Agreed 100% on the Foo music. I love em too but uh… Not for X-Men.

I’ll watch if for no other reason than morbid curiosity but bleh, seems like it might really be bad >.<

Ugh, I’m really tired with the animation style. The new Spiderman cartoon and The Batman both have it and it’s gross. It’s the only way I can explain it. *sigh* They really need to take a look at the old stuff and stop trying to be edgy, cause it ain’t working!

Looks like the animation from X-Men Evolution, only characters seem older. Considering I didn’t care much for that series, I will probably not care much for this one. But I’ll still watch the pilot just to make sure.

I actually quite like it. Although I don’t like the attempt to put Wolverine in a starring role, and the fact that they’re straying from canon to build a clichéd story, I like the art style, and I don’t mind the animation.

I say that if it’s good, go for it.

while i enjoy alternate universes, i dont understand how exactly jean and the professor can die so easily…probably just a ploy to get people to watch to be like WTF guys…agree on the music…im getting tired of all this rock music soundtrack shtuff…trying to line it up to a series just doesnt work when there is dialog and they didnt even try to use some of the high points of the music to line up with the trailer…bottom line use original music guys…

i agree with that it looks so X-Men: Evolution esque that i would almost expect to see in small print “Continuation”…i also have seen wolverine as being the kind of guy that if he has to lead, he will but if someone else will do it, let them and he’ll just mess with them whenever he can…

ive never liked Scott so im glad he turned into an alcoholic or thats how it was looking…

anyways, ill watch it and give it a shot…ill probably force myself to watch it all just because its x-men and if marvel put their name on it it was for a reason.

Well, I can see where you’ve spotted the flaws in the preview, Hawk but I think it’s still worth the watch…and yeah the loss of Jean Grey is gonna hurt this show considerably…also, I agree with the first guy who commented. It looks darker and I feel that adds a positive element to this show. ;)

wouldn’t it being darker be a “negative”. Not meaning it would be worse, meaning that it would be more on the negativity side of the setting system. Dark forboding plot, but few characters left that people actually like. Seems like it might even out to about the same as the last one (evolution).

What the hell is it with people using crappy art and animation in cartoons nowadays? X-men deserve something better than budget artists and cut-cost animation. The story would have to be spectacular to make up for it. ><

I was jsut thinkin about wolverine today, and I was thinkin from a genetics point of view wouldn’t his healing cause massive cell division error, and there for age him to death? He’d require one heck of a cellular memory for it work at all, which should be a power all of it’s own.

At least its different, rather than trying renditions of the same storyline of xavier trying to bring things together. The intro reminded me of the alternate time-line (where Xavier was killed by a time traveller) in the original animated series. The trailer wasn’t as impressive, but for wolverine it wins :p

You know, Quicksilver is what got me into comics. No Marvel just can’t seem to stop screwing with him. Waahhh! Remember when comics were good (like 10-15 years ago)

I am such a nerd. The second they imply that Jean is dead, I hoped that it would mean Cyclops would hook up with Emma Frost like he did in the comics, and stop being such a whiny ass pussy about Jean. And put an end to the stupid Wolverine-Jean-Scott love triangle.

Did anyone else read the comments? “Wolverine should go rambo on some arabs.”
The world scares and disgusts me. Often.

Am I the only person in the would who likes/identifies with Cyclops? I guess it’s true that you either like Wolverine or like Cyclops. I think the role is a bit out there from what Wolverine always was to me. The outsider. In his deepest depths, he wants nothing more than to fit in, but ultimately, he can’t. He’s just too different. It’s what makes him such a strong tragic character. Keep him savage and on the outside. You can’t judge a story by it’s minute long trailer, though. It doesn’t seem to be the blatant Cyclops Hate that the movies were. And the title is what the movies should have been called anyway. I’d be interested to see if the series made Scott a dark, vengeful character as a result of the death of Jean. Take him in a direction he’s never really gone. Of all of them, I don’t think Scott’s ever been anything but the tried and true boy scout leader. I’m willing to give it a chance. But I’m going in wary, learning the lessons I did from the movies.

Final Verdict: There’s potential. Just as long as they don’t make it the “Wolverine is t3h Awesome and Should Lead t3h X-Mens Cause He’s Awesomer Than Chuck Norris with Mr. T’s Mohawk and Bruce Campbell’s Chin!” show.

New cartoon? X-men cartoons have been the Wolverine Show ever since the late 80’s. At least it doesn’t sound like it’ll be filled with scenes of Wolvie mackin’ it with Jean until she pushes off and says, “No, I love Scott.” Who always awkwardly stumbles onto the scene to break up any and all would-be touching. Then Wolvie charges off for “Dead Man’s Curve” to the tune of “Leader of the Pack”, get’s his ass kicked, and they drag him back to the school to be treated, repeat ad nauseum.

merrrr, sounds silly, but as a x-men fan my self i feel that it should get a chance…but if it lacks i will be sad, any way who cares if Scott’s a cry baby! its his fault for letting jean dress him -_-

It looks iffy. I’m not sure about the drawing and it’s sad that they kill Jean. And where is Remy? And Rogue being evil? I know she has been in the past but then she usually goes good and stays that way…the trailer made it seem as if there was no hope of her coming back to the X-Men. I’ll give it a shot but I’m not hopeful.
