From the horse's mouth (or, in this case, Michael Caine), he said the Ledger gave "one of the scariest performaces [he'd] ever seen." This Joker is based on some of the most badass versions of his character. Ala The Dark Knight by Frank Miller (where he pretty much slaughters an entire amusement park), The Killing Joke (his supposed origin story, in which, as mentioned above, he documents and rapes B.Gorden, then kidnaps the Comish and makes him watch the process), and stories like Greg Rucka's No Man's Land (the novel version, which is, in my opinion, the best Bats story ever told.) They're finally bringing to light the story of Harvey Dent, using Jeph Loeb's Long Halloween. With source material like this, it's going to be hard NOT to get it right. Also, concerning the appearence of a suit, sure, it's high-tech, but this is the first on-screen version of a BatSuit I've seen that actually looks flexible/mobile enough to kick some serious ass. Finally, while Mark Hamill will always be MY joker, this summer America will forget about Brokeback as they shit a Jokerfish. Boo-yah.
