Now that you mention it…

There’s a pretty close resemblance.

Of all the live-action Jokers, Jack Nicholson’s version I like best. The twisted mouth is just plain disturbing. I don’t care much for this version. His hair is supposed to be green (works well with the purple suit). But I’ll have to wait to see how he acts. The visuals might come together in motion.

These shots, right here, have given me a fair bit of hope for Ledger pulling off the Joker.

The Justice League movie is gonna crash like a flaming turd on Jupiter, but I think the Dark Knight is going to just simply rock and rock hard.

Aww man….it DOES seem good. But I’m at odds with the hair. One of the defining thing about ol’ jesterhead to me has always been the slick green hairdo. Not this wool.

You know, if you jumped (or were dumped, depending on the version) into a vat of chemicals and it changed everything in your appearance, I would think that having hair like that makes sense. I mean, come on, what are the chances that it makes your face pale and hair green and maybe some other effects but it makes your hair all nice, smooth and suave? Nah, stick with the crazy look, it’s who he is. I’m just curious how they’re gonna portray him before he became the Joker, the master criminal (gotta love Jack Nick) or shrewd chemical plant worker?

Well if you look closely, you’ll realise that his face is painted over like a clown and nothing else. This makes it different to the version where he fell into the chemicals (Jack Nicholson) and was then changed forever. It’s like the reimagination of Scarecrow - he takes on a “mask”.

If you’ve seen the Batman Animated Movie (I guess the one with the reaper like creatue, not the Superman crossover), you also see a flashback of RedHood before he turned into the Joker. And there he was still normal, though soaked from toxic, but his skin wasn’t changed, neither was his hair.

The only thing that I have to get used to with the “new” Joker, is his voice. I just love Mark Hamill’s interpretation of him, and the teaser trailer just didn’t convince me yet (then again, the German version will be VERY different again, too). I just have to wait and see - but so far I liked the reset of the franchise. Thogh I also share the opinion that Batman’s outfit just looks more like an action figure now. Then again, if it makes him more agile and agressive, why not. I mean, if he’s wearing it mostly at night, the details aren’t sticking out that much anyway. Or do you prefer pants over spandex?

Is that a Wonderbra he’s wearing?

Yeah..what I’m really worried about is they’re again turning it into a gadget Batman, which yeah that’s who Batman partially is, but adding that stupid bike thing or whatever it was turned me off. His mask/helmet looks a tad odd because it’s not attached to anything now (although it always DID annoy me he had to turn his entire torso to look anywhere). Joker looks cool though, his hair needs to be totally sickly green though and not like it was dyed and is growing out. I actually prefer this over Jack’s look because it’s more..realistic, which is what this reboot of Batman seems to be pushing a little more for.

(though this Joker looks really, really scary…and in all probability that’s closer to what the Joker should be…eek!)

I think what you need to remember is that the Joker was the most “Evil” of characters. In the DC universe he was a bit more slap stick. But in the Dark Horse universe he was the most sadistic homicidal maniac there could be. He took pictures of himself raping Barbra Gordon (Batgirl) before shooting her point plank and leaving her for dead. I hope they pull it of right in this movie. I did like what they did with the last one.

eh, jack nicholson was good, but I think with a new style of batman movies comes a new joker. I kinda prefer this sick and twisted look anyway

I’ll be brave: I have long though that Jack Nicholson was miscast as the Joker, and the part wasn’t even written right. Homicidal artist? Where did that come from? Not to mention the puffy-cheeked smile. Bleah.

Everything I’ve seen so far tells me Heath Ledger’s Joker will do well. It’s a different look than we’re used to, but it fits in the Batman Begins world.

Dunno if these are the same pics as I never saw the originals before they vanished but check http://www.joblo.com/new-batsjoker-pics . They aren’t on IMDB anyways. I like the idea of a more maniacal and evil Joker. The Harlequin of Hate is meant to be one sick puppy and this look seems to capture it well.

I hate how I can’t see a Batman debate without having to pipe up.

From the horse’s mouth (or, in this case, Michael Caine), he said the Ledger gave “one of the scariest performaces [he'd] ever seen.” This Joker is based on some of the most badass versions of his character. Ala The Dark Knight by Frank Miller (where he pretty much slaughters an entire amusement park), The Killing Joke (his supposed origin story, in which, as mentioned above, he documents and rapes B.Gorden, then kidnaps the Comish and makes him watch the process), and stories like Greg Rucka’s No Man’s Land (the novel version, which is, in my opinion, the best Bats story ever told.) They’re finally bringing to light the story of Harvey Dent, using Jeph Loeb’s Long Halloween. With source material like this, it’s going to be hard NOT to get it right.

Also, concerning the appearence of a suit, sure, it’s high-tech, but this is the first on-screen version of a BatSuit I’ve seen that actually looks flexible/mobile enough to kick some serious ass.

Finally, while Mark Hamill will always be MY joker, this summer America will forget about Brokeback as they shit a Jokerfish.

Boo-yah.
