Periscope by Freeverse is a pretty cool webcam application. I find the interface to be clean and well designed. However, the application acts more like a security cam than a regular webcam app. For example it has movement and noise detection. You can set your Mac to take a picture when it detects movement in the room or hears a sound. So if you want to know who touches your Mac when you’re not home, this app might be for you.

ha, whenever you do that it looks like your trying really hard not to look at the camera
That’s awesome. XD
I was about to get it! Then I saw the price tag! 39.95! Arg! (lol)
You are so hot, I’m really jealous of your girlfriend.
wait what? i have a gf? when did this happen??
Are you currently accepting applications for the position of girlfriend?
lol…must own a mac… j/k!
Do I get bonus points for knowing what a dogcow is and being an evangelist since OS 7.5?
^_-
moof!
Don’t forget “boo woo”, “foom,” and for the Japanese dogcattle 「モアン」 (mo-an).
Clarus is my homegirl.
Ack, when will the Eve figures be back in stock?
Neat! I’m currently looking to install a webcam on my computer. (Sawtooth G4 running OS 10.4.10) Can anyone recommend one? The only webcams I’ve been able to find are for Windows.
get an isight. if they still sell them. but they are $150
Is that you? Wow. you’re kinda foxy.
I still stand by my statement that you are down right hot.
(Best part of being Bi is you get to swoon over anybody without questioning yourself =D)
I gotta say…
You look like David Duchovny, sorta…
at least in that pic.
Hawk does, that is
sounds like a really sneaky way to finally get a picture of Ananth
Oh man, I really could have used that while in the air force at the dorms…
Would be nice if there was a good program for video capture that allows you to have high quality streaming video. I would imgine it would be possible if they did it in the manor that Gif can has yet few actually utilize where new frames are only updated by the pixels the change and not the whole capture. Digital TV uses it. Why if there happens to be an error black blocks will appear until new information is sent for the spaces. Its very rare though.
nice! could use that, as my family is always trying to get into my computer. too bad its not open source…..
…but on another note, i bet you could set it up in automator that whenever it detects someone in front of the comp/trying to use it when you’re away it locks itself up… that’d be nice. wouldn’t have to worry about anything if it automatically password protects, and wouldn’t have to shut it down every time i leave the house.
try iAlarmU :) it’s very noisy when anyone touches your beloved mac and take a picture too. there’s an option to send the picture via mail too.

Cool…I hate people touching my MacBook. Luckily though, I put it to sleep all the time and have a password no one I know would figure out.
Nice jacket thing btw.
Hawk, I think you like to post your picture just so girls can gush over you.
…
Dang, but you are hot.
O_o Motion detection? Isn’t that kinda creepy? Especially if you keep your computer in your room? Not only does it catch intruders, but it could catch you trying to change into or out of your clothes before or after your shower…
hehe.. it’s true, you do look like the one in the comic.
;)
AAAAAHHHH! HAWK’S FACE SHALL DEVOUR US AAAALLLLLLLL!
(runs away)
My prof. had something like that set up in his office, but it had a fairly limited range on the motion sensor part. We figure out that if you didn’t actually step into his office you could take anthing off of the shelves along the wall by the door. The best part was the look on his face after we figured this out. Anyway, still awesome, even if there are some limitations.
What kind of jacket is that? I’d ask where you got it, but you live in DC…and I live in another city.
Wow, that sounds useful.
I think I’m gonna go ahead and convert to macs now. Though spending all of my money on books makes this a problem.
Time for Plan B. It’s called Operation “Tomorrow, My School Will Be One Mac Short”.
OK, play B didn’t work out. On an unrelated topic, I think I’m now forever banned from the school library.
Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
