I’m so glad this week is over. For obvious reasons and few other things, I have been feeling like crap. My wallet is gone and I know I’m not getting it back. The cash in the wallet is gone of course, along with credit cards and ID. Once I found out my wallet was missing, I called my credit card company and bank right away. What is really buggy me, I had my social security card in the wallet. I know I’m a total dumbass to have the SS card in the wallet. Sigh. After doing some research, I added myself to the identity theft fraud alert.

I need to go to the social security administration to get my new SS card. Apparently they don’t give out a new number, just a new card. Also, I need to go to the Maryland DMV to get my new ID…joy.

Maybe next week will be better?

Here’s an extra comic. Art by me and written by my lovely friend Jess. (She made sure I didn’t go insane. Thank you.)

For Jess <3

Love the comics (both of them)! Wolverine would be a bad person to have as a dad. ;P Anyway, hope the weekend gives you some relief from the week of hell you’ve had.

Comic was hilarious, but dont stress it. Im sure everything will turn out for the best. Just gotta be cautious and pay attention to things now. Sorry that it happened, same thing just happened to my aunt. Good luck, man.

Ouch… I’m sorry for the mess. I had my SSN stolen a few years ago and the worry alone was a bitch and a half, so I know how it goes. I can really only suggest the obvious, but yeah - keep an eye on your credit report and do everything you can to change / establish new passwords on your accounts. My credit union let me put a verbal password on my account, for instance, so no one else could get into it if they called by phone…can’t hurt. And between putting extra walls up and occasionally just concidence, sometimes you’ll luck out. My thieves stopped trying to do anything with my SSN after they tried opening accounts with two different establishments where I already HAD accounts… genius move. ;)

Anyway, best of luck, and I hope things turn out better soon! Wishing you uneventfulness (hah, new word) where all this is concerned.

Is it just me or does that car Logan’s driving… it’s just that it looks a lot like the old Gadgetmobile…

I’m glad we don’t have this Social Security thing to worry about over here… Sounds like more trouble than it’s worth.

Hard luck Hawk, seems you’re banking up good Karma recently!

I’d love to see the woman that got Logan to settle down…
You know, it just reminds me of when Himura Kenshin and Misao found out that Saitoh Hajime was married.

Sorry to hear it. You can contact the credit agencies and tell them your card is stolen, and you want to freeze opening of any new accounts at this time. Go to AnnualCreditReport.com go to FAQ, “request a fraud alert” for info.

Wolverine in a SUV? Uh, no. A motorcycle with a sidecar would be more appropriate. The sidecar could take a flying leap with the kids in it when he roars around the corner.

What? That’s not an SUV, man. That’s a jeep.

If Wolvie ain’t on a scoot, he’s driving a jeep.

Cute comic. Wolverine’s the kind of dad little boys wish for, I think :)

I’m really sorry to hear about what happened to you. I hope things work out all right.

I know exactly how you feel. Ive had my wallet stolen before. Dealing with the SSA is a pain in the but in MD. But theyre pretty nice. Just call them up, theyll send you the packet of info to do and then just go up to Caitsonville and youre set. As for the DMV, its hell on earth as usual.

> Your not that bad i keep my SS-card in my wallet…then again my wallet is connected to me by a thick fashinable chain. But i guess im gonna take it out now just in case. So sorry about everything Hawk.

AND STOP working so hard on theses comics. We will so understand if you take a week or so off. So you can consentrate on doing what you need to do to make sure theres no wanna-be Mohammad F. Haque running around Maryland…o.o or the internet…:gasp:…PIFT!! we would know if it was you or not.

I hope all goes well and your in my thoughts, Hawk.

P.s…loved the other side comic.

Now I’m imagining a lot of evil little Hawk-clones all over MD! My company HQ is there too.

And yeah, take the SS card out of the wallet and put it somewhere safe. It isn’t needed that often.
I also had my wallet stolen recently, but because I did not have my SSN in it, and only a minimum of other things (no cash, even) the thieves gained nothing from it and the hassles to myself were minimal.
My banks closed my old accounts and opened new ones in their place. That is safer, because the old cards and the numbers on them are suddenly completely useless. And I got a new number on my DL too, so it will be easier to identify any fraudulent use of the old one.
And my new wallet is way cooler than the old one…

But if crooks get their hands on your SSN, then they have some really useful information that can be used years from now, so it is best to keep those cards in reasonably secure locations and keep stuff with the SSN on out of the wallet, purse, car, and other easy to reach places.

As DMVs go, Maryland actually has their act together, at least at the one in Elkton. Good luck!

Stay strong Hawk man.

Never let the bad things in life get to you. Look on the bright side.

Lots of people care about you and I’m sure more then a handful of us are willing to kick and poke said thieves into a coma.

Ouch! Bad luck losing your wallet.

I know what you are going through (I really do), I lost my wallet this week as well, all my credit cards, ID, drivers license and cash, all gone. It has been hectic trying to cancel everything, get new cards, etc… And I get the joy of constantly worrying and checking my accounts just in case, it’s really stressful!

I also wanted to say thank you for all the comics, they do make my day :) And I hope your wallet issues are resolves as soon as possible. =)

Thanks.

Damn man, I feel for you. =/ I’ve had the same thing happen. 80 bucks, ID, bank card, and SS at Christmas time, stolen right out of my back pocket. It happens, unfortunately, and you sound like you’re among those of us that have that random lack of foresight to take the SS card OUT when we don’t absolutely need it.
Things will get better, but here’s a huge hug from Oregon.
*HUG!*

Oh, man… Maryland DMV… been there - in both the idiomatic and physical senses, that is. That’s annoying. And the rest of it is somewhat worse, but at least you’ve got the credit cards covered.

But still… DMV… on a monday. Ouch.

I feel your pain, buddy — I had my wallet stolen out of my car last week — see? I one-upped you. Not only was I stupid enough to have my SS card in m wallet, but I was stupid enough to keep it in my friggin *car*.

Seems like you’re doing all the right things, though, especially getting on the identity fraud watch list. Keep your spirits up, and keep up the great work with the comic!
