Sorry for the silence. I’m in a major shit hole right now. My wallet was stolen over the weekend. It had all my credit cards, cash, bank numbers, etc. So I have been dealing with a lot of crap right now.
I really dont have anything else to say right now.

Same here. More than once I’ve caught someone eyeing my back pocket, trying to figure out if they could get my wallet; but the chain seems to deter them and make them look for an easier mark.

I had my wallet stolen at gun point. It really sucks. I felt like I was somehow at fault when I had to go around proveing my identity to reclaim my driver’s license and bank account.

Hmmm…. I think it must be the full moon… I’m sitting here working on my laptop, as my apartment key stopped working…. It worked fine this morning, and when I return home tonight, it won’t turn to unlock the door! Now to wait for Maintenance to let me in…
And this comes after failing a major midterm exam this morning, finding out I just barely eeked by on another test, studying for one that’s tomorrow that I don’t expect to pass, and then there are two more tests on wednesday and friday…….. That, and my 2.5-year-old Nintendo DS decided that it doesn’t want me to use the top screen anymore - there’s a big green stripe right across the middle of the screen…. Anyone know of a good place to get a used DS Lite? Oh, and I can’t forget my nice, tiny, iMac-white 2 GB flash drive that failed - taking about 10 hours worth of homework and other work with it… and a file recovery tool I used couldn’t recover all of the files….. What a crappy day.
Anyway, I’ve never had anything stolen - apart from a GBA game (Rest in piece, Golden Sun… wherever you are…), an umbrella, and an insulated water bottle… (honestly, what jerk steals a water bottle??) Good luck, Hawk.

DUDE!!! That sucks major! I had my wallet stolen in San Francisco last winter. Sucked balls. Ended up waiting a while and dealing with more security at the airport… but at least I put holds on everything with my CC companies and my bank so they could track whoever stole it. As far as I know they didn’t do anything with it. Must have just wanted cash.

Huh - were you able to get on the plane, in the end? How did they ID you?
I was able to get on the plane in the end. Apparently you’re not required to have ID to travel within the US, just outside of it. As a response though, the put you through a lot more security.
I was only able to get on the plane as a result of having my return ticket with me. Otherwise I would have been SOL and maybe have had to take AmTrak or something.
I know when I was flying and had just switched my license over in Texas (where they mail you your photo version, talk about antiquated) they issued a temp Id piece that with that in addition to having the photo ID issued from my work they let me on the plane.
Get your credit frozen or your credit cards outright cancelled. Warn the bank, open a new account and transfer most/all of what you have to those new accounts. Keep some in the old accounts if there are any automated payments pending (pending would be in the next 2-3 months. Some places take a -long- time to register the paperwork). In six months, contact one of the big 3 companies and put your credit on alert or on the watch list, however they call it. Basically they’ll keep an eye on anything financial with your name on it. Card thiefs and ID thiefs are known to keep some informations and cards silent for about six to nine months before using them, hoping that the original owner didn’t notice and thought s/he just misplaced those cards.
Good luck, going through that is never fun. I really hope you didn’t have anything with your SSN in your wallet otherwise you’re in deep doo-doo.

haha, now that you’ve learned your lesson, put a chain on ur wallet connected to ur pants. i lost my cellphone (twice)and my wallet too. it had my social security #. thats the worse thing that can ever happen. but i live in a nice neighborhood with decent people that i know. i got my stuff back without the invasion of privacy. such nice people. well, after that, i never brang a wallet again. i would only carry the amount i would need for each day. nothing more and nothing less.
Crap, man that sucks. I remember when my ipod nano got stolen, I went around beating the crap out of everyone who had a silver 4 gig nano just to check if it was mine… never did find it though.
Crap, I know its not much consolation, but I feel your pain.

wow, had that happen once, new license and everything, the other time it hapened it wasn’t actually stolen, i dropped it and it got mailed to me, with everything in it, maybe there is luck maybe not, but i hope everything goes alright for you man! life just ucks like that i guess, but there will be better days ahead. i promise.

Just had my wallet go missing a few weeks ago myself, I know what a pain it can be… and I only had ONE major card of value along with my IDs.
That’s gotta be a pain, sorry man.
In the event of stolen credit cards; remember that if you canceled them when you found out they were stolen, you’re only legally responsible for $50 worth of whatever charges were made on them. The companies cannot legally (though they might try) make you pay for the rest of the charges they may have been used for.

I’ve had a few scares of losing my wallet.. Its a feeling I really hate. All the cards, all the important stuff.. But, its all stuff you can get back though ( even though its a shitty process ), and i’m hoping you can get everything fixed up as soon as possible without too many issues. Good luck!!

I’m sorry to hear this but just keep it all in perspective the sweet isn’t as sweet without the sour and in time things will be right again, I kno how it feels to be on both ends of the spectrum losing the wallet and all and I’m not trying to be an optimist but keep your chin up, happy halo 3 day.

One friendly piece of advice for the future: If you don’t have a passport, get one once you get your other IDs back. Since that is something you mostly keep at home, it’s easy to prove your identity if other things get lost / taken.
sorry to hear that, I suppose you reported to all banks so they would cancel the CC and denie any attemp to take money off your accounts. At least most of those guys look for cash only and dispose of everything else.

I’ve had my wallet stolen once and then I had my car broken into and someone stole my day planner, which had some info in it (along with some CDs, one of which was my Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtrack…jerks)…my wallet had not only my driver’s license and my ATM card (called right on the spot to cancel it) but a pass to get on the military base where I work. THAT was sure fun to try and redo. =P My planner was a little scarier…I changed my account numbers and everything, put my credit on watch…scary. Now I don’t put ANYTHING in my planner except “if lost call this number” and nothing else. No medical plan numbers, no car insurance numbers, not even my school ID.
I even got my vehicle tags stolen off my car once–the little stickers that let the cops know that you’ve paid your registration for the year. Had to go get new license plates. GRRRRRRRR. Mean people.
Man, suck. Look on the bright side though, if they stole your wallet, chances are they were after easy cash and not your identity. Identity theifs typically don’t want you to know something is wrong untill they’ve zipped out with the money. At least this way you can take pre-emptive action.
For future reference, get a wallet chain. a little tedious changing it from pants to pants, but worth it as this situation wont happen again.
And you still manage to get the Lite done. Good job, man.

User protection rocks most credit and bank cards offer protection like a mug it helps with over the limit fees and theft.other then that cancel change your account number and get a new card isssued and go up to ure bank and personally square it away with ure debit.
