Here are a few pictures of me at Otakon. Pictures were taken my friend Suds.

I was taking a picture of something with my Nikon D40 camera.

I took a break and checked out the artist alley.

Shouldn’t the monitor be OFF while taking a photo (on a dslr)?
You’re just posing, my friend ;)

Hey Hawk, did you know your hand made it into a news report in Baltimore?

Check out the video. It’s amusing.

That second picture is great. It’s as if someone is doing surveillance on Hawk. Are you sure you’re not being tailed?

d40’s alright, but I thought someone of your artistic integrity’d wanna drop the extra cash for the d80. Or hell, you could probably still find a new d70 somewhere for the same price if not cheaper, bein’ that it’s a few years old. Ah well. Anyway, if you buy the sb400 I’ll just shake my head sadly.

Sorry, just had ta camera geek out there for a second.

Hee! I can totally picture a Lil’ Hawk perched on your head framing the picture with his thumb and forefingers. ^_^

*sigh* Again, I wish I’d gone to AX…cons are crazy but it’s a special kind of magical crazy. Or something. I didn’t miss freezing to death in airconditioned panel halls though.

lol it’s hilarious how in all my years of reading Applegeeks, I’ve never seen a clear, face-forward and upright picture of you.

it’s almost like you are camera shy

Having used both a Nikon N70 (film) and D70S, I can say that the D70 is a pretty sweet machine. Not too many of them out, but it’s still possible to find one, or a D70S. Still, there’s no harm in keeping a D40 – I used my FM2 for almost 20 years.

The D40 is a great camera. I have the D50 and have been very pleased with it. My bud got me into Nikons after he got is D80, and since I got my D50 I haven’t looked back.

I’ve found that keeping my eye out at rummage sales/craigslist yields a decent number of Nikon lenses that still work great on the D series cameras even if they are older (how I got my macro and long tele lens).
